History: When I was 14 my dad was offered an 86 crx for the cost of towing it to our house ($50). It had sustained some water damage, and the ecu was a paperweight. After some basic maintenance and a new ecu, the crx was running very nicely and my dad started using it as a commuter car. When I turned 17 and got my licence I was told that I was going to get the crx. It had cracked fenders and a big triangle missing from the header panel. Ripped seats and a bunch of wires hanging out for a stereo. I was not too happy about having to drive the rex because it was such an eye sore, and I did not know what was just handed to me.
My first time in the rex changed my whole outlook, it was such a fun car to drive! I then decided that instead of saving for another car, I wanted to fix up the rex. That summer I went to work at an auto body shop (friend of my dad) for no pay, in exchange for learning some body work and a full paint job. With money from my other part time job I started purchasing parts. I really wanted some tunes in the car so first I purchased an alarm system, which was a good introduction to wiring and gave me a headache. After I had an alarm, new Polk speakers were installed along with a Pioneer stereo with IPod and AUX connection routed through the glove box for a clean look. I also modified the doors to accept 6 1/2 inch speakers to match the rear. Next I took the torn seats to an upholstery shop and $400 later I had nice new seats. New floor mats, and a trunk mat soon followed and my interior was nice and fresh. By that time summer was over, and my car had fresh new paint. My tires were balding at that point and it was time to get some new wheels and low profile tires. Next I put together bits from an accord to bring the look of the car up to modern times.
Once I had everything looking the way I wanted, it was time for more power. A simple K&N replacement filter went in, along with a stage 1 gude cam, dx outer valve springs and 195cc Accel injectors. Now that it had a little more grunt, I wanted some suspension upgrades. Ground control coils in the rear with 200lb springs, lowered about an inch and a rear sway bar. HF aluminum drums were installed in the back and drilled rotors in the front. Then one tragic day I was involved in a freeway accident that destroyed my front bumper, header panel, both fenders and a fat dent in the rear quarter panel. I fixed it all on the cheap, and switched to an 85 si front bumper. Also picked up some jdm corner lights, rear tails and reflective panel. Thats pretty much the story and here are some pics.

Ram Air Intake

Ok, So I wanted a ram air intake and decided to build one. I first removed most of the intake pluming so I could run a universal hose. I then went at the the bottom with a dremel to cut open a hole for the hose to sneak by and out to the bumper cover. Also opened up the air box on the inlet to make room for a larger 90 degree air hose from a junkyard car. ( I want it to look oem(ish) so the police wont give me much trouble). On the bumper cover I cut open a hole the same size as the universal hose, and plastic epoxy'd a screen to keep out big rocks and bugs. I am pleased with how it came out, air will be nice and cold as could be.

Nice car mate! What parts did you use from the accords and what work did you have to do to make them fit?

The extension of the oem sideskirt and the extension of the rear bumper. you can see them in the first two pictures in the first post. I also used to have an accord "type R" front lip but it was destroyed in the accident. For the side skirt extensions I simply cut off a decent amount from the front section so it would be the proper length. then with a dremel I carefully trimmed away little by little so it would contour to the front mud flaps. For the rear pieces I cut them on both sides to length and used a heat gun to warm the bend so it would follow the bend of the rear bumper cover, and also used a dremel to make them sit nicely against the mud flaps. Later today I will post pictures.

Short shifter install

Just installed "Chedda J's" adjustable short shifter that was made for me back in January, along with my new weighted "Skunk2" shift knob I bought from heeltoeauto.

Before I got started, I moved the car into the garage so I could use the lift.

My Energy Suspension master bushings kit arrived a few days ago, so the shifter bushings will be installed at this time.

All nice and clean with new bushings and ready to be mounted again. Once it was up I realized that the heat shield on the exhaust was going to bump, so I gave it a little more bend to clear the shifter, and still leave room for vibration from the exhaust. Two new holes were drilled for the heat shield to bolt up since the larger bend threw off the alignment.

The shifter sits up a good bit higher than oem, and its actually in a more comfortable spot for my taste. Also a lot closer to the steering wheel, which is nice. The throw is very short. And with the weighted shift knob it feels very nice to shift.

Valve cover re-paint

So I stripped the valve cover, and sanded off any remaining bits of paint.

Some high temp primer.

Some high temp semi-gloss black

Sanded down the H and the lettering, and Waala!

140mph cluster install

It was time to finally put in my new gauge cluster that I snatched up a few months ago. First I had to take apart the odometer to make it match the actual miles of the car. Once that was done I used a volt meter to check if all the bulbs were good, and its a good thing I did, because two of them were bad. Cleaned it all up best I could and presto! And I have actually maxed out the 120 speedometer on a long downhill run. The rpms kept going another 500 so I assumed it would have read somewhere around 130.
