Yes its the stock cdm dx head PE3.  As far as the compression ratio I thought all of the 1.5 blocks were the same throughout 84-87.  Just the head chamber size changed the compression ratio, unless I'm thinking of something else.

Yeah that's right, but the pistons are different between the DX/HF and Si. 1.3L engines are totally different.

Going to Hawaii? You need a Dune Buggy.

WTB: 14x8 or 9" Panasports or Watanabe RS.

WTB: 3g Civic hatch gauge cowl, brown.

WTB: ZC header--FOUND

I am using the dx head with my fi setup.

That's a canadian non-CVCC head, right?

CDM DX is non cvcc. Cvcc was discontinued in CDM models before the 1st gen rexes and 3rd gen civics. I got a 5 psi difference in cranking compression swapping from a CDM DX to a SI head. No idea what a U.S. DX would have. CDM DX heads have a smaller combustion chamber than a SI chamber. Rampage would remember what differences are in the piston, deckheight areas.

eldo - lead me to this CDN carb mod you have discovered!

I actually just put on a lightspeed header a couple days that I got for rediculously cheap from a guy that doesn't know that lightspeed headers are expensive, and i've noticed a lot better throttle response in all parts of the RPM's under 4500rpm.

Unforunately my stock 87' clutch doesn't grab as hard as i'd like it to these days, but what do you except for a stock clutch biggrin.gif. Since hte D16 is going in come spring time, I don't think im going to waste time and money on doing a new clutch...but I do want to finish the rest of the piping underneath smile.gif

Just some info
1984 CRX's were CVCC in Canada, also 87 Civic wagon 4WD's were CVCC.

See, carbs are worthless. My CRX with fuel injection at least hits 650 mph in 3rd gear. I usually surpass mach 1 half way thru the rev band in 4th gear. cool.gif

carbs are horrible, in my experience...

FI is easy, that's the point. That's why your FI engines were better. FI either works right, or it doesn't work right. Carbs have attitude and they need to be set up to match said attitude. My carbed 84 CRX is faster than my FI MR2, and I've had people here question my 1/4 mile time (though it's not impressive as the car is all but stock).

In short, carbs are not horrible, you just lack experience with them. It may hurt to hear, but facts are facts.

I just realized I replied to a post from 2005 >_< Why do people keep bringing these things back? I mean, damn! tongue.gif

Any car that will make 400HP on FI will do similar with carbs. But why would people use carbs when FI is so much easier to set up for that power, and more consistent to run over varying weather conditions and time? It just doesn't make sense for people to take an FI engine and start throwing carbs on it when they are going for power, they take FI upgrades and use those instead. All I wanted to say is that carbs are not the problem per say.
