Thanks for all the compliments guys, Its nice to know the community approves =)
Its a Felpro gasket and I sprayed it with a tacky substance thats meant to help fill in small surface gouges and scratches. thats what gave it that golden color.

Rear bumper air relief
Decided to relief some of the air that gets trapped up in front of the rear bumper. First removed bumper and mocked up with tape the cutouts. Then used a drill on each of the corners and a small saw to cut through. then some detail work with a file. I got some mesh I had laying around and painted it black for a clean look.
I used an epoxy to glue the mesh and some clamps to hold it in place while it cured.

So as I was making my usual pass through my local junkyard I noticed that an 85 Si has a lighter front bumper. Although its not really much of a bumper, and I suspect its the same as the HF front bumper. Cost me $7.99 and was very straightforward to install. The original bumper weighed in at 12.6 lbs and the new one at 2.6 so a 10lbs weight savings off the very front of the car, not only reducing weight , but adjusting the front to rear weight ratio slightly. Just have to make sure I don't rear end someone =)

I was VERY glad to have my crash protectant 86+ bumper when I had my accident with a deer and a ditch. It saved the car, nothing was hurt but outer cosmetics. After that (and I do own multiple under bumpers) I will never rock the lighter bumpers in my DD. Now on my track CRX.... Great way to drop some weight. Good to see you're project never ends either...

Real beauty, man.
Note on the head gasket, it's normal for the old head gasket to tare appart and stay attached to both the head and the blcok. Just happens with age, it was probably original. Every head gasket I've ever done tore like that.

And another shot of the rex as it sits on the lift. Does anyone recognize the crx's little friend in the background?
is that a 600 I see in the back?...
major props...
There was a primerd 600 at JCCS this year in LongBeach that was #4 out of the original 10 prototypes...
talk about rare... WOW!
This 600 had totaly different wheel offsets, lug nut pattern, bumpers and tail lights.
I think the dash was a little different too...
very cool.

I am a bit worried about it, but now that the car is finally coming together I am quite a bit more cautious. I still have a list of modifications to get done, more to come lol. I am in the process of picking up a second part time job, and that extra flow of cash will help a lot

Thats good to know, I had just assumed the previous person to open up that head used some type of adhesive. I don't believe the engine was original because the block was in way too good of condition. Pistons had no burn marks and the cylinder walls were perfect, so I just left it alone.

Yep, its a 600. Finding tires for that thing was a pita. I think I'll try to make it to JCCS next year, sound like lots of fun.

New strut tower bar showed up in the mail a couple of days ago. Not the best out there, but it should serve its purpose and the price was right. And I don't believe I have posted up a shot of the engine bay yet after the rebuild, so here it is.
