well, everything has finally fell into place for me to start building a very nice rex.
i have been hunting for a rustless crx for some time now, as my 85 si has too much rust to be worthy of 10k worth of modification.

i ended up "stuck" in an 86 crx beater about five years ago, while i was still in my "mopar only" phase, after wrecking the car beyond repair, i realized that i had really came to like the little thing, later picking up an 85 si, my daily today.
but the 85 had plenty of rust, and i cut and welded several sections and small pieces into the floor, making it not really suitable for a high-end build.

now that i have a greater income, and garage space, I am ready to build a kickass 1g, it will take all winter, and possibly part of the spring.

today, i picked up a very clean, very straight 87 dx, without one single spot of rust anywhere on or under it, $200 , right here in my own town, thats a real accomplishment , here in southwest missouri where we use more salt than just about anywhere else on the roads.

heres what i have so far:

the plan is:

300+ hp, clean mugen looks, with a splash of CF here and there, anthracite/gunmetal grey paint, cf48s with slicks all the way around, stick my digi-dash in there, and many other little custom things.

my fall/winter is about to get interesting, stay tuned... first step, engine pulling/stripping the body.

Oh man, the moment I saw the crate I got filled with envy... I can only hope houseman will still have that kit in a 1.5 years when I will be out of school and hopefully in a job that will allow me to put aside 2.5 (canadian) thousand for the kit shipped here...

I am excited to read your build instalments... so... GET TO IT! XD

Looks like you are going to be keeping busy, atleast you'll be having fun. Great build idea. I just have a simple question, would you be willing to part with the old fenders and header panel?

Good work... Houseman stuff is the shizzle. As far as recycling, I'd be interested in the old lower trim pieces myself. cool.gif

i agree, the valve cover and all of the blue crap has to go,
as far as the leftover pieces are concerned,
the hp is shot, fenders cracked, the lower skirts are in great shape, the flush mount headlights are really clean, and so are the bumpers,

i will be selling all that off cheap once i pull it, watch for a fs post this weekend.

well, heres todays progress,

i put in a couple hours after work tonight, and managed to get the body all stripped down, i broke fewer parts than i thought i would... i found rust! ohmy.gif 1 spot smaller than a dime on the quarter, and a tad between the rear bumper and wheelwell, does that even count? biggrin.gif

next up that engine bay gets purged of that carbed ew!
wait till you see my engine hoist, its pretty cool
