Project Port Alignment
03 May 2008 - 08:57 PM
I decided to finally clean up my intake and head and port match them. Its real easy all you need is a dremel with a cutting burr ,sanding disks ,a sanding flap wheel and a good intake gasket also have a lot of patience.
The tools you will need.
before
after
first you secure your intake gasket to the intake with bolts to hold in in place and mark with a scribe. remove gasket and use dremel with a cutting burr on med. speed. start removing material a little at a time till you reach the scribe line going with the conture of the runner. then use the sanding drum to smooth the edges and runner if you have to remove alot of material make sure you taper the port about 1.5 inches to smooth the transition. then use the sanding flap wheel 120 grit to smooth the runner even further also make sure you dont grind into any other hidden ports.
will add more later.

Oil Cooler
29 April 2008 - 11:18 PM
this may be a stupid question but could the oil cooler on a 86 1.5l si ew4 go bad and cause a massive oil and coolant leak? I just took the head off and can't find where it was leaking from. the gasket didn't seem to be blown
