So after the engine install and weber carb swap it overheated. Now I have water in the oil.. How likely is it that I warped the head. I know that it is a big problem in these cars. Any reason that a weber carb swap would contribute to the overheat? I think the stock carb was watercooled and the weber is not. I had a water hole in the manifold that I blocked off because the weber adapter and carb did not have them. I had to block it off because it was soaking my gaskets. Any help would be appreciated. There has been water sitting in the oil for a while now, so what would i need to replace in the engine as a precaution?
Thanks,

Red 87 CRX HF, body in good condition, carb crapped out on the car and it got a little water in the oil as far as I could tell. I think it blew a head gasket. Tranny is in good condition, ran well with good compression until recently. Asking $300 for the rest of the car obo. Located in Bellingham Washington. I have pics.

Overheating After Carb Swap
27 February 2005 - 08:35 PM
Ok so I put a 32/36 Weber on my 87 CRX HF and right after I got the thing idling it starts overheating. It must be something that I plugged/changed because it did not do this before I installed the weber. I suspect that it is the coolant outlet coming out of the back of the intake manifold facing the firewall. I currently have this plugged up. When I pulled the original carb off of the intake manifold I noticed that the manifold has an outlet that goes up into the carb and that the carb went out into the one that I have now plugged up. Could this be causing me to be overheating?

32/36 Weber
24 February 2005 - 08:31 PM
I just got the 32/36 bolted on in place of the stock and I don't know if my jets and tuning is anywhere near correct, anybody want to share their settings and the pros and cons of their setup? I just need to get my car running for now, the fine tuning can wait for later but it needs to run! Thanx

32/36 Weber Jetting

Just questions on which jets people have found to be the best for a single 32/36 on an otherwise stock CRX?
