I'll be driving and coming to a stop. Put the clutch in and it won't go into first. So I let the clutch out and in and everything is fine again. It also sticks in gear if I put it into 1st before coming to the stop and trying and pull it out. This only happens sometimes. and doesn't effect any other aspects of driving.
No wierd sounds, shifting is still smooth while driving. Can't figure it out. Could it be the clutch acting up? Pressure plate?

Not a tranny guy but sounds like a first gear synchro going .Hows reverse ?I think first and reverse are usually on the same synchro.

That happened to me when I had one of those Ebay (Exedy) clutches installed. Try adjusting your clutch cable.

1/2 = same synchro ring
3/4 = same synchro ring
5/R = same synchro ring
the problem could also be your clutch needing adjustment.

CRXFanatic is correct. no synchro for reverse, thats why it grinds a little when hitting reverse for most people. to solve that problem just come to a complete stop then put it into first gear before going into reverse gear. as for your problem, it sounds to me like you just need to adjust your clutch but it could possibly be the shift fork though. i would adjust before replacing shift fork.

my second grinds when i try to put it in over 3k.. ive been told my synchro was bad by the previous owner.. now if you say 1st and 2nd have the same synchro ring then why does first not grind?

Shift fork makes sense. I replaced the little ball bearings and spring bolt combos that are on the out side of the bell houseing last night, and that made a diffrence but it still does it sometimes.
Fisrt and second share the same synchro RING, which slides between the two gears. The brass synchros are between the sleave and the gear. The shift fork is what sits on the RING

I'm missing a clutch cable bracket on my car...and I can't really drive it at all. I have a similar problem but unfortunately, I get no clutch pressure and none of the gears work when I try to shift...I'm convinced it's because the clutch cable is in a bad position and I just need to put the missing bracket in place and see the problem go away to prove it. I would reccomend checking to see if your clutch cable moves too much and whether or not you should adjust it.

i think you should come out and race the car, then all your mechanical problems will be very evident
