Initially I was going to do a D16a swap into my car still have donor integra.

I played around with the idea of swapping a LS motor into my car. I found a shop that would do it but said I would never be able to get it smog legal without everything being installed from the integra which consisted of the evaporator canister and something in the gas tank changed, get the correct cat which runs $450 for the LS motor. He said its too much work and not really worth it.

First question, if I have him do the swap from a 94/01 LS how hard is really to add all the other stuff and get Reffed?

Second question will a 90-93 LS motor be a better swap with less headache?

Should I stick with the 87 Integra motor instead? Seems like with the motor only has 18HP more than my stock one.

I read somewhere on here someone was doing a LS swap into 86 Si and then was going to get it reffed but never knew if he succeded.

Thanks in advance guys.

hmm I never recalled someone doing the swap and passing emissions with changing something in the tank? I have read that people who live in cali or other states that requires a emissions that when doing the swap all the other vac and stuff from the original car must go into the new car, also the swap must be the same year or newer? I live in colorado where we do emissions too but I passed without all that shit.

the 90-93 integra motor will be the same amount of headache for the b16 due to costs axles, mounts, rewiring the harness (even going obd0).
Well as going with the d16a1 is a direct drop in and depending on if its blacktop or brown the wiring is close to none.

Ultimately the choice is up to you.
Bam! Behold, a public bulletin board, built of both brilliance and barbarity by bastards with boners. This bastion, no mere bulwark of boredom, is a brutal barrage of blistering bullshit, barely benevolent...A brotherhood of blasphemy, blessed with more balls than brains, battling the bland, the bogus, the benign. Bedlam? Bring it on. But I babble... better to be brief. We are /b/.

Yeah the swap has to be the same year or newer and come from a car in the same class as the civic meaning I can't put a B20 and legalize it since the B20 came in a CRV. I was talking about the smog equipment if it was different from a 90-93 to 94-01 integra, meaning less smog equipment in the 90-93 and making it easier to get it BARed. The guy I talked to about doing the swap talked about dropping the gas tank in the 87 Si and adding the smog equipment from the integra, charcoal something but something to do with a smog device in the gas tank.

I have searched but most of all the info I found is mostly EF with LS swaps. I'm going to try to talk to a Ref and see what I can do. Thanks for the reply.

The 90-92.5. [The 93 had more stuff on it and was a mild ODBI. Stay away from some of the B18's
that have the EGR crud on it]....90-91 would be your best choice if you didn't want the headache.
I went to the REF last week, been busy/lazy. He stated the motor was perfect. Wiring/emissions
mechanical and smog related equipment was exactly what he was looking for. He never mentioned
the gas tank and I passed the evap and fuel test.
I did not pass the sniffer because of high Nox. Partly due to the fact that I'm running
the stock Si cat. He couldn't tell what cat I had or there was some confusion since there's no
heat shield on it. I'm in the process of putting on a ODBII cat since its huge and should address
the sniffer. From what I can tell based on the numbers I plan on running a B20 Prelude FPR
retard the timing from 17 to 15 (+-2 16) and run some chemicals to clean out my engine.
The TEG motor can be Bar'd so can a B16a/b/GSR or Type R JDM or US. You can use the Civic charcoal canister and air box but you need the TEG cat.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
