In what will hopefully be the last time I work on a car in a unheated warehouse or outside (after 20 years of renting I bought a house with a 4 car garage! Move in a few weeks) this winter decided to fix up a few minor issues with the '86:
1) refinish badly flaked cam cover and intake
Had both sandblasted then painted with VHT black wrinkle
2) refinish phonedials (not in very bad shape just not up to the rest of the car's standard), new Bridgestone Pole Positions 960AS
Professionally media blasted wheels then hit with 3-part Wurth silver wheel paint system. Used two of these kits: http://www.autogeek....ration-kit.html
3) install rear Tokicos. Did fronts last spring.
4) Rebuild rear drums, replace hubs. Driver's rear groaned at highway speeds, bearing was toast
Parts from Rockauto.
After the move I'll do the Addco rear swaybar and next winter poly bushings.
I've got the motor parts almost completely back together, but of course there's one hose I can't find and didn't take a photo of.
Can anyone please take a look at their Si and let me know if these two 'ports' are connected to each other? Can't seem to find any unconnected hoses so I"m pretty sure they should be.... thanks!
Motor before
drums and shock before
Caked with brake dust, bearing inner race stuck on axle. Took some whacking with a chisel to get off.
blasted wheels
improvised paint booth at work on a saturday/sunday. Only heated place I could find.
stinky paint

VHT wrinkle, just sprayed
10 minutes later
30 minutes later, occasionally hitting with heat gun
next day
after 10 minutes of block sanding high parts
brakes rebuilt, shocks in
a little more elbow grease on the hoses and firewall and she'll look almost new

The port on the right looks like a coolant line that runs through the base of the TB to prevent freezing.

thanks Scott. I'll take another look around next time I'm there to make sure there are no hoses I tucked out of the way and forgot about.
I'm still thinking they have to be connected to each other. There's a similar size hose coming in under the intake connecting to the silver part on the left. Don't have my service manual anymore
This is where it's also great to have a parts car to check out when you forget how to put the main car back together....
If anyone can snap a pic of theirs (behind the intake tube area like the first photo above) it would be much appreciated!

Yes, those two are connected to each other. It's shown in the manual here.

If you love the Elise, drive a Se7en - Caterham or whatever...
It has even less content than the Elise, is less graceful looking
...and changes direction like a ping pong ball whacked by Thor.

nice! Thanks Jay.
Of course I'll find that little 'U' hose right after I buy a length of new stuff...
Scott - already on it
