I'm trying to find which wire coming out of the cluster on an 85 SI is the tach signal wire. The manual says blue, but there is no blue wire. Maybe Honda ran out the day they built this car LOL. Maybe the electrical troubleshooting manual is wrong? Mabye I should stop smoking crack? Either way, there is definately no blue wire in the looms coming out of the gauge cluster looms.

Any thougths?

hey, all i did was hook everything up except the tach line, then i took uff the dash/ cluster cover and touched that line to each of the lines on the harness, one will make the tach move and that is the line, it made a clean setup and i hid the lines right behind the dash. hope this helps!
p.s. make sur car is on when you touch the line on the harness

It's blue, but it's blue coming from the source...in the engine compartment!
The color on the dash wiring may be totally different.

I'm in the process of troubleshooting some wiring problems on an 85 Si right now and one of the problems is with the tach wiring. It keeps blowing that fuse (and it's starting to piss me off mad.gif ). Anyway, the wiring from both the distributor to the coil and from the coil to the harness has a blue wire there. That is the tach signal wire.

If I find something different behind the dash tomorrow I'll let you know. I really don't want to get there but I think I may have to.

It has even less content than the Elise, is less graceful looking

I found it. Coming out of the dash it was a Blue/Brown wire.
