So about a year ago I hydro locked my motor (fail), and bent a rod. The motor still runs, quite well actually, with exception of the bent rod knocking. The trans has a synchro grind into 2nd, but if I double clutch, it shifts fine. I have a 2nd 86 EA Si, with a strong motor, and smooth shifting trans, but it has a blown clutch.
So I guess the question is, What do I do?
-Do I drop the oil pan and pull the rod, and try to straighten it, or replace it with a new rod?
-Do I install the motor and trans from the 2nd Si, with clutch replaced, of course
-Any other suggestions?
This project has sat for a year, and it is time for me to make a decision, so sayeth the powers that be...

I would say drop the good motor and good tranny in the best chassis and just replace the bad clutch. Are you going to get rid of one of the two cars? That would be my suggestion.

@ old school- I would like to that, it makes sense. Why drive around a car with a wounded motor/trans? Even if I can fix the motor, the trans is still wounded. I would be open to selling both, actually, if I knew I could get the right price for them.
@ hoopty- They are absolutely worth saving, I don't want them to go to the yard.

Ya swap engines in the cars. Then save the one with no engine and find a gen 1 Integra parting out and get that swap for that one. Fix them both! smile.gif

Actually had a gen 1 teg that I parted ways with... shoulda done the swap. I think taking the good motor and trans and swapping them out will be the best bet.... Now I just gotta find the time....

I would be willing to sell them both for the right price, but he would have to do some labor to get it running right...
