ok i shorted out the connector.. turned the car into the on position it threw 2 codes.
5 short...and 2 long and 1 short so i got a..

code 5=MAP sensor
code 21=Vtec Spool Selenoid Valve

now this is really cool.. im so stupid and didnt look at the post earlier.. but i mean im soo not a mechanic.. i have to have someone hold my hand but i am trying. lol the map sensor..would that cause my car not to idle right? i looked up a search and it said it was ON the throttle body.. so i mean that could be causing this..( i posted this video before) but now im a almost certain thats whats causing it to do this..

the other is the vtec selenoid valve.. now that could be the problem as to why im not hittin vtec.. could it? i just wish i knew more as to how they are wired and stuff.. cause im just afraid if i replace this part.. its still not going to work maybe because the guy who done the swap didnt wire the vtec properly. but.. how would anyone of u all go about checking these things and if u was a greenhorn at torubleshooting these things.. i live in eastern ky. trust me the mechanics here wouldnt know how to even start on this b16a motor. any info i would GREATLY appreciate.
i went outside and looked.. and im pretty sure now the guy who done the swap on the car did do a good job.. cause by the looks of it.. he wired it up and the car DID hit vtec at one time.. cause i peeled back some of the loom and i seen heatshrink. soooo id say all it is IS my selenoid valve.. cause i read if this sensor goes out UR car will not engage into vtec. is it common for these sensors to go out?

and i think i just wanna make sure this IS my MAP sensor right?


im sure they are plenty of people who have done b16 swaps into a 1st gen crx or even the older civics who can chime in and help me. THANKS in advance

yup.. need me a spark plug cover for my b16a.. i have a wild idea to paint my valve cover and i dont care if its in rough shape cause im going to sand it and repaint the whole valve cover. comn someone hooook meee up and the only thing icould find on ebay was like a carbon kevlar or carbon fiber and it was like 75 bucks.. soooooo just need a stock one.. wait til u see what im going to do when i get me one

hey guys i bought a car that had a b16a swap done to it... heres pics of the motor.. it runs on a p28 OBD1 ecu...i dunno if that info helps but anyways.. say if my alternator was to quit or something goes out in the car or i wanna change plugs and wires for a tune up when i got in what do i tell them.. like..

hey guys ive been outta here for about 4-5 months now... and guess what ive FINALLY found me the car im going to get tomorrow on wednesday... its a 93 civic hatch with a B16a engine...
everythings already done for me.. but the guy that im buying it from said that the ECU needs to be rechipped.. AND TRUST ME im no genius when it comes to this stuff.. he said it needed to be rechipped and he couldnt find no one where he lived to do it for him he said i could send it in to people on the internet to do it for me and they send it back... the wuestion im going to ask is. since the ecu needs to be redone why cant i just get on ebay and find me an ECU for a b16 motor.. would it work?

he said.. he has a stock civic ECU hooked up to it now but it limits my revs to only like 4k.. but it will be good enough to get it home. seein as if itso nly an hour from where i live.. but yeh..

couldnt i do that tho just get me a ECU for a b16 motor off ebay.. and plug it in and it go..cause he said the ECU reset it self.. just... comn i know u guys are REALLY smart at this.. someoens gotta help me out since im going to get the car come wednesday.. any info i would greatly appreciate..
