So i figured id post over here since i havent said anything in quite some time, i did something i said i wouldnt do, and thats buy a dodge, i couldnt pass up a 98 dakota 2.5 4 cylinder for $850

So i rebuilt the engine, and first i had a P1391 (Cam position sensor) Solved that, fuel sync was off...

Then Along came P0304 (Cyl #4 misfire)

I have swapped injectors from #3 to #4 no change in result

i swapped the wire n plug from #3 to #4 no change in result

did a Compression test, read 125psi Three times in a row

i sprayed the engine bay with carb cleaner, no change in RPMs

I Swapped out distributor/cam position sensor, No change in result

i Changed hydraulic lifters on #4 cylinder, theres no valve lash adjustments either

Fuel pressure test was at solid 50psi

Randomly runs on 3 cylinders, then will run on 4 cylinders for a little bit then go back to 3

I have yet to do a leak down test on that cylinder (i do not own one) or a fuel pressure test on the fuel rail, im gonna try another distributor cap as well, im talking to another dakota 2.5 owner and a dodge technician and we dont have much else to think of besides these 2 tests i havent done

misfires can be caused by vacume leaks, might be time to grab a cigar and a long hose and lite er up. Just make sure the top of the TB is blocked and plug in your long hose somewhere in the manifold and puff, puff, blow.
