87 K-Swap Awd Wagon. World's First?

LoneWolf's Photo LoneWolf 28 Mar 2021

Thought you guys might like to see this 87 AWD K-Swapped Wagon I built. First one of this chassis that I know of (I know there’s plenty of EFs, but the measurements on this are very different).  There is extremely little information out there about swaps on this chassis, and most of what is available is found here on Red Pepper.  I posted some info over on the K Swap Knowledge Dump thread during the build last year, but I wanted to come back and make this post too.  Hopefully it will help those looking to do this swap or a similar one on this chassis.

I actually filmed the whole process, but that phone died and the footage was lost :( I held on to it in hopes of recovering the data someday.  In the meantime, you'll have to settle for these photos.

- Stock K24A1 and transmission from a 2002 CRV
- Hasport K-Swap EF Mounts, pretty heavily modified
- Base Model RSX front Axles. Driver side fit perfect. Passenger side was shortened at a shop
- Stock 87 wagon drive shaft (shortened) and rear end
- Walboro 250 inline fuel pump mounted on frame rail and converted to a return fuel system (intending to go turbo)
- Converted the wagon to a hydro clutch setup with the master cylinder mounted under the dash

Of course, there's a ton of little things not mentioned but these are the main ones that people usually ask about.

Looks like the forum will only let me post so many pictures, but you can see the rest here: http://www.redpepper...=834&tab=images

Awesome sleeper!  Thanks for posting this up!

would love to hear more on how you did the hydro conversion and what had to be done to make it work.

I know the photo isn't great, but I essentially welded up a similar bracket to that offered by Hush performance for the EF chassis: https://www.hushperf...ydro-conversion

I suspect a slight difference in measurements between pedals on the 3rd gen and the EF, otherwise I would have just bought that one.  Master cylinder is under the dash, and reservoir is in stock location.  The photo was a test fit, welds were cleaned up and then I painted the thing before final install.

Cool I asked hush if he had plans on one for the AF or similar chassis as he just got one.  He said nothing yet but with HASport working on mounts I could see it happening.  Perhaps something we can look at on my swap.
