Ok heres my issue.

175 degree thermostat
272 cam

Car starts up and idles at 2k, normal for cold start up
Warms up, idle drops to 1500
Gauge reads little more than 1/4
i sit in traffic, car heats up to mid way
idle drops to 1000 then drops to engine stall

If i cut the fan on, gauge drops to little more than 1/4 and idle jumps back up to 1500

Is this the IAC? ive also got a friend with the similar thermostat and 272 and his idle goes to 2k then drops to 800 and 1000, normal idle.

Anyone got anything for me here?

Thanks
Dustin

I'd guess a vacuum leak or improperly adjusted idle.

When did the problem develop?

Cant be a vacuum leak, Ive only got 4 lines. None of them are leaking

Ive adjusted the idle quite a few times, same affect

If you only have 4 lines and none are leaking, are you sure you capped off all the ports that needed to be capped from where lines used to be?
Lack of a line where a vacuum is being drawn can cause the issue to..

Doesn't sound like the IAC to me, but you never know.

You really know you have made it far on rpr when someone quotes you in their signature. I can't wait for the day!

Did you check your brake booster?

Yea, it cant be a vacuum leak, it idles fine at 13 to 15 k then when the car warms up further it will idle, then it warms up alittle past half and the engine will stall.

Im thinking IAC here, whats a good way to clean these things out?

J-Man had similar issues after he installed his Delta 272. I believe his issue was a vacuum leak in the Fast Idle Valve but he had a surging idle as well. He ended up raising the idle to around 850-900 warm too IIRC.

I'd soak it in wd40 and use an air gun to blow it out gently. I sourced a new used part and will be doing this prior to installation myself.

Are you talking oem D15/EW3 engine or something else? The EW3 doesn't have an IAC but does have a FIV which there happens to be a good write up on here as to how to solve a surging issue but not necessarily an idle issue. JS

If you want one of these Logos send me a PM
