You could have a badly worn torsion bar or could be off one key, if its stock, then likely worn torsions.

What would cause uneven wear? 27 years of constantly having a driver and no passenger? I know when I lifted my 4Runner the drivers side got an extra shim for driver weight and the gas tank being on that side...
