ok so I swaped a d16a1 into my rex and it runs like crap, the plugs are black so it is running rich. I checked the computer and it flashes the EACV code, I swaped out to another throttle body and it didn't work. runs poorly, and won't rev up past 4000 rpms. any suggestions?

not sure what could be wired wrong, all of it goes in spacific spots, done this swap twice now, but the map sensor isn't hooked up right, didn't know how to wire it since honda wire colors and teg wire collors are different

MAP sensor wires are the same on both. If you changed something you screwed it up yourself. You do have to use the Teg MAP sensor for it to work properly but that is just a minor wire issue unless you reversed the wires. JS

They call it an EACV? So basically the IAC, which is on the back of the intake manifold. Its probably dirty. BTW which ECU are you using?

using the crx ecu I think, been a long time and can't remember which one but I am 95% sure its the crx ecu, I tried messing with the IAC or EACV was very clean, like new and so I put it back on.

There is your possible problem. Two ECU's are similar yet somewhat different. Fueling control may be different on the ECU's. If you have done this twice how did the others work? The wiring has some subtle changes. Try to get both wiring diagrams and make sure it is all right. Here are some of the changes. This is an updated diagram. Still needs more wire colours added.

As far as the EICV goes it is wired to the ECU in the 86-87 TEG. They both have an FICV (fast idle control valve) and are mechanical in both (plunger activated by heating a wax element). Different units and in different locations. The 88-89 Teg only has an EACV, also electrical. The two EICV wires are as follows according to the schematic. BL/Y goes to the main relay as well as fuse #4 and the W goes to connector C20/C60 and becomes G/R and goes to A11 at the ECU. You will have to add these wires.

Hope this helps. JS

The CRX ECU won't run the D16a1 right if you are using the teg map & eacv - The Idle control valves are very different. If you are using it you have to use the pandora's box. If you are using the teg ecu you remove the pandora's box and wire the eacv and cold Idle solenoid where the old pandora's box wires are but you need a wiring diagram. BTW Brown is the odd color on the map sensor- wire it to the one that is left over after you match up the other 2.

use the teg ecu and then let us know how it runs--i used the teg ecu on my swap- as far as wiring goes, if you search the posts you can find a great pictured swap on this with all the info needed.
