due to a recent accident on my way to NEC 08 @ sgt. peppers house i am left with a pile of very rare and valuable parts. so instead of parting out or junking the car i will be restoring a rust free body courtesy of Dasheight in Seattle washington. patrick gave me this white 86 civic si for free!!!! i cannot thank him enough. i owe him this build thread.

so here we go again. the rust wont be involved in this one but plenty of detail and body work for sure.

here are some pics of the wreckage...

and thats how she sits now. the floor was push in so far i can't push in on the clutch pedal at all.i never hit any thing so hard. the car took it like a champ and saved me.

so wish me luck as i embark on this next project, and this time i will paint it greek white...

I am glad to hear that you are ok and that you are building another car. I just wanted to inform everyone that there was a recall for 3G/1G's by Honda a while back for seat belt buckles/latches. Basically the buckle/latch would give way in an accident. You would know if your car had this done if the buckle (the part where you stick the belt into) has an extra piece of plastic at the top of it.

Also, Honda (at least used to) have a lifetime warranty on seat belts, so if it breaks you can get if fixed for free from the dealer. I had my drivers belt replaced for free b/c it stopped retracting about ten years ago.

Be safe out there!

damn dude, sucks you can never use that block in a 1/3G again with the bolt holes busted off for the drivers side front motor mount. now whats your plan for engine in the next build?
When I die, i want to go asleep peaceful.......... not screaming and freaking out like everyone else in the car

a guy i work with has a 98 civic and his bolt holes are stripped for his mount.so i will be trading blocks with him and it solves both our problems.

Good to hear that you are on your way to fixing up another.

My wife said this must be a disappoint to your other half as you were done, more or less, with the last car and must have been looking to spending more time with you, but now you are starting all over again.

On a side note, I saw that the roof on the wrecked car was bent some, did it bend up the sun roof gutter pan thing? Basically if your new body doesn't need a rust free sunroof gutter the old gutter ain't bent beyond simple repair and your willing to sawzall that part of the roof off, I'd pay to have it shipped here.

Wow this is cool the whole build over again good to hear its going to be greek white its the best colour you can paint a 80s Honda.

These cars are all designed to buckle in the floor and roof i think they hold up surprisingly well having been in a similar accident myself and my mates civic just last week suffered the same(all occupants not hurt), we are both rebuilding and its good to know you weren't hurt from the accident and also want to rebuild,

The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.
