According to "A Carography"----Fine Living Channel, 135 Automotive experts (journalists, museum curators, and historians) from around the world were asked to find THE BEST cars ever to grace 4 wheels in the last 100 years.
The Verdict:
5. Porsche 911--THE performance machine, the brainchild of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche
4. Volkswagen Beetle--another Ferdinand Porsche machine "for the masses".
3. Citroen DS--introduced in the mid 1950's, this car was (and still is) an icon in europe, although it's odd styling never caught on in the USA. Founder Andre Citroen: "As soon as an idea is good, money is of no importance." No wonder his car never made it in good ol' capitalist USA
2. Mini Cooper--designed by Alex Issigonis, his concept: "less is more"
1. Model T Ford--Good old Henry Ford got it right with "The Tin Lizzy"....the car that put the world on wheels.
Do you agree?

Those cars suck except for the 911, and arguably, the Beetle.
I'd have to add the Toyota Land Cruiser and Honda Civic to the list. Obviously, these writers, like a lot of "classic" car buffs, don't like "Jap crap."

What about the 1st jeep? Could it possibly have been one of the 1st mass-produced all terrain vehicles?
#2 (but my Fav) '64 Lincoln Continental 4dr/suicide doors convertible
#3 Porche 914 (the poor mans porshe) Overbored vw motor.
#4 The Austin ? the 1st massproduced passenger vehicle that was amphibious It came in 2 models coupe or 2 dr sedan.
#5 Honda Ive owned 5 a 1980 1300 cvcc, 1980 honda hobbit (Moped), a honda sprint (scooter), My current honda dx, and My 1988 Honda elite 50 (parts hunter delux). The reason; they have always been inovative with form, function and design, Low maintenance (perfect for those onthego)
Honda, because it's hard to look baller in your mom's Volvo.

Yo Omega dude.
I'm 59 this year and have owned, driven/raced those aformentioned cars.
I respectfully disagree with your nominations.
I've owned 2, 1g civics (both purchased new on the same day, His and Her's "Leroy Brown" and the "Great White Hope" can ya Guess what colors they were??) a new 79 Accord a new 85 DX and now 2, 86 SI's (OK, they're RedSIBaron's but I get to play with them)
I've owned a 1976 Lancruiser Wagon that towed my Formula Fords to many kick ass races in Cen Div.
I Learned to drive in a 55 Speedster Porsche, Owned Mini Cooper S's in Europe. Owned a VW 1500 S nocth back.
Point. The 5 cars mentioned were pioneer cars
Civic was a copy of a Mini (Thats why mine were our first cars when we returned from 5 years in Europe driving Mini's)
Land Cruiser was a copy of the Land Rover.
I would kill to have either of my 1g Civics and Land Cruiser back (sans all the rust problems)
Let's agree to let the pioneers stand in the spot light..........not sure about Ferdinand being involved with the 911 though.........might have to do some home work on that one.
Ferdinand did invent the hybred deisel engine, electric hub motor (truck application)in the early 1900's........see lots of interest in this concept from the hybred milage getter projects being played with.
Still lookin for some racer to share EW4 engine set ups with us,
Motor on...........

But are we talking about the "greatest" cars or the "most innovative" cars. One could say that all cars are copies of the model T. And no way the land cruiser is a copy of a Land Rover.

as a previous driver of a 98 landrover discovery (this was in 98-99) i can answer your land rover questions. from what i understand is that earlier landrovers were based on BMW engines and the later like the pile of shit i drove was a ford product. i would have to say that IF the land cruiser was a copy of the land rover then it was built a million times better because the land rover was a true work of garbage. from new till date of disposing of this scrap there was more maintenance done to it than every car that ever rolled of the GM production line (and i think everyone knows my hatred for GM by now). for a vehicle thats 2 years old there should be no reason to be replacing brakes 3 times, turn signal electronics just so you can get the shift lock solenoid to let you get out of park, broken wheel studs, starter, stereo (never even bothered having that fixed), cheap plastic inside panels falling off and braking, distributor, head rebuild due to burnt valve, RUST, timing (belt/chain/rubberband... whatever they use). the list goes on, im sure theres more that i forgot about. this thing was being worked on weekly and was pretty well taken care of. even if it wasnt, theres no reason for most of these problems even due to abuse in 2 years time. now the landcruiser on the other hand, thats a toyota product.....next best to honda.
When I die, i want to go asleep peaceful.......... not screaming and freaking out like everyone else in the car

oohhh buick engines...because the design is from the 50s or 60s, and the reason that the modern land rover v8 overheats so bad is because they tried to make it an aluminum headed engine!
There are 3 goals when modding a car.
Cheap, Reliable, and Fast.
Now the down side. You only get to pick 2...
Fact: A recent study shows that 92% of all teenagers have turned Emo.
Put this in your sig if you're one of the 8% who stayed gangster as $h!t.

1. E46 M3's........nothing like German engineering
2. Lambo Diablo.......
3. 69 Hemi Charger..........love em
4. Peugeot 206........nothing like a 2.0 AWD hatch
5. And for some Honda love, I would probably have to say the EF series......not because I own one, but from a performance stand point. They are the models that Honda started doing indipendent suspension, first model that came with a more powerful power plant.........I feel this is when Honda started to realize thier N/A potential.
