My '85 needs a new engine block and per the rules I run under, I can not update to an 86 or 87 engine. If anyone has an engine or just a block that is in good condition within a reasonable distance of Knoxville, TN, please let me know. If you think the block could be shipped for a reasonable fee, I would entertain that also. It has to be unmolested. For example, never bored and never decked. Feel free to PM me here or send me an e-mail at dsp33-at-prodigy-dot-net.
Thanks,
Mark

I know you are not allowed to swap engines in STS2 but I think you would be OK using a block from any 1st gen CRX Si. As far as I know the blocks were all identicle and the only obvious difference was the wording on the valve cover. Personally I wouldn't worry about it and use any suitable block from any year.
YMMV,

Scott,
I like the way you think and I agree they are all the same. If I weren't planning on running this car at national events, I probably would just put in another block. I have two of them laying around. However, I really want to avoid some weenie protest based on my block having the wrong numbers stamped on it.
Thanks,
Mark

You might consider just calling Doug Gill out at the National office and get an 'official' opinion. I really don't think you will have a problem using a block from any first generation CRX Si.

Year model should not matter as long as it is the same engine from the same type car...but look into it...if so i have a 86 HF 1.5 i jus pulled out...its a full short block, jus needs the cylinders honed and cross hatched in north mississippi

I know all the 1st gen engines will bolt in but per the rules I run under, I have to have the correct code on the block. I can't update and backdate to different engine codes. It would have been a lot easier if Honda had made all the Si engines either an EW3, 4, or D15 instead of changing the designation every year.
Before Hondas, I raced a VW. They put the JH code engine that I ran in almost every body style between 1983 and 1990. Finding a JH code engine was as easy as going to any local junkyard.
Thanks anyway.
