all you need to do is, if the intake is C.A.R.B. approved, file a complaint with his supervising officer, for harassment, what they are doing is profiling, and that is completely illegal for them to do in the state of california. it's just like if your car was red, they wouldn't take their eyes off of it, until they found a reason to pull you over. they don't even notice my tan sedan.
i want a carb legal intake, but they don't make em anymore, so im screwed.

I'm thinking A.C.L.U.
It's not related to abortion, terrorist rights, or working against the Bush administration, so the American Communists Living Undercover won't do squat about it.

Everyone knows that car enthusiasts are nothing but trouble makers. 9 out of 10 terrorists have some sort of vehicle modification illegally done. Big spoiler, large noisy exhaust, racing sticker, neon lights, gauges, and car bombs. Illegal car modification is a gateway to more hardcore stuff like car theft, car stripping, NASCAR fanship, etc...
But really, I am glad I don't live in Cali now.Who is really to judge what is an illegal mod? Big wing, cosmetic, lighting ,window tint , oem engine swaps. The ones who make the rules are the ones who reap the profits, so on a judgement basis, whose favor are they likely to rule in? And confiscating cars? For non drug related activities? This is government extortion at it's very worst beginning. Unless someone has the power to fight it, (ie;car clubs, ACLU,SEMA,detroit auto lobby who fight the stricter fuel economy regs, organized consumers and aftermarket companies combined). What is worse, California has such a large population and economy the rest of the country watches California to set a possible nationwide example. I sure hope this is stopped now before it spreads any further. Ironically this could be a federal funded project, like the $241 million bridge in Alaska built for 50 people, federal studies to study insect mating habits and methane emmissions from cows. The aftermarket auto industry is a multi billion dollar part of the economy already showing pains from high oil prices. So will government mandated Geo Metros be in our future? I think we should write congressmen ,senators, and companies to organize and oppose these laws. Summit Racing sent me a opposition card to fill out and mail somewhere once. I filled it out and mailed it and never heard back. Now I am opposed to dangerous and deadly street racing. However just because you modify your car doesn't mean you WILL street race it. That is like saying all Arabs who worship Islam must be terrorists because of a few bad extreme examples. So it's better to stamp out Islam, or whatever to prevent ANY problems. Cigarettes kill WAY more people than street racing but they are legal. Why? Because of a strong organized lobby to oppose laws and strong consumer usage or addiction. Go figure.California, the Golden Stae for politicians.

i searched the arb website, and found three cold air intakes which have CARB approval for civic/crx si's. if your intake is one of these, or has no name on it, print one of these up, and keep it in your car, so that if an officer trys to harrass you, you hold a "legal document", showing that it is a perfectly legal mod, however if you present this rudely, the officer will ticket you for something else

Here is what I don't understand. They sieze your car because of illeagal mods and auction it off. But how can they leagaly sell a car that is illeagal to drive in calli? Much less make a profit off of it. Something don't sit right with me when it comes to this.

Funny part about this is, i yell at the police every time i am pulled over for doing absolutely nothing wrong and i get away with it.
Then again, ive never had to pop my hood or pass an emissions test or any of that garbage since we dont have it. Although i have gotten a fix it ticket, but i just bolted on the stock muffler for a day. Oh and i do ocassionally street race. Oops
btw whats everyones beef with SUV's? I drive one sometimes and it kicks ass.

i agree with the comment on suvs/trucks. sinc emy rex isnt currently running i drive my 1999 silverado everywhere. yeah it burns more gas; but it is a truck, and i use it as a truck so i dont mind.
though i can understand everyones complaints about gas and obeing oversized when i think about all of those city dwellers who have never seen an unpaved road in their lives and would freak out if ever driving on one or ask "whats receiver? whats a ball and shank?" i mean, do they need that style of vehicle....probably not, but would i rather cart my kids around in a suburban than in a sienna...hell yes. 1 there is tons of room; 2, have a much better view of the road; 3 plenty more power when needed; 4 can use it to pull something other than a bicycle buggy; 5 if in an accident it will keep occupants safer(other than a roller over situation maybe. but then i feel all roll overs are avoidable and fall on the responsibility of the driver, not the vehicle driven.)
my two cents being that it is 2am and i am only half way through my work shift tonight.
