Here's a repeat, but view the photos here 1986 CRX Si Photos.

Here's the breakdown:

Well, my kids are getting bigger and I have to get rid of my little go cart.

This is a stock 86 CRX Si that has very low compression on one cylinder and very poor leak down. Funny thing (not really) is that the engine didn't burn any oil prior to the lumpy idle based on that one cylinder. I'm thinking it could be some type of valve problem.

I went over the body work and put a nice shiny, 2 stage (base/clear) black paint job as per the original Honda black color code. The paint job isn't perfect, but it was heck of a lot better than it was before (i.e. peeling clear coat and mismatch rattle can paint)...can't expect perfection with 105°C temperatures in your house garage!!

Upon repainting the car, I went to my buddy at the Honda dealership and got new quarter window mouldings (installed a few months ago), a new windshield (less than a month old), new upper door seals (still smells like them in the car). I had even gotten a set of mudflaps (for all you mudflap lovers) and front Si lip (since mine ate it a few years back). A year ago, I found a pristine set of 91 Integra seats and installed them properly....just an inch of lost headroom though....I still have the original seats (driver's has the standard rip on entry side, passenger intact).

In addition to most of what is new, I also installed a new thermostatic valve and have all the hardware necessary to get the A/C back up and running...just buy a few cans of R134a and you're ready to chill.

I still haven't reinstalled the door and fender mouldings, but still have them all (was getting to paint them before the engine gave me problems).

I also have the rear Si rubber/foam spoiler, but removed it for appearance purposes and because the water finally got to the metal support frame of the spoiler and rusted out (very common apparently).

The rims are stock phone rims with the stock 185/60/14 Michellin Pilots on them with about 75% tread left.

Besides getting the engine repaired (or swapped out), the only thing the car really needs is a new set of rear springs since many years ago I used it to haul lumber for my patio cover (yes, beat me for using the car that way, but my truck had recently broke back then as well)

I am hoping to get $1000 to break even with the paint, windshield, and new rubber mouldings. I have the registration so getting into one's name shouldn't be an issue. If you have to drive it, it will run, but I don't recommend it since you could damage the head (if it's a valve problem).

I'm sad, but know that it will eventually find a good home with an RPR member.

If I don't sell it through RPR, then it will go into the autotrader and/or ebay to sell off.

I need to get rid of the ENTIRE CAR - NO PARTING OUT.
