I just bought an 87 crx dx, and It idles at about 3500. after driving it home, I checked the fluids and they all looked good, so next I looked at the ignition system. The 3rd and 4th cylinders seemed to not be firing, so the first thing I did was check the plug wires. They were plugged into the correct spot, and the engine speed didn't change when unplugging them, as it did with 1 and 2. I bought new spark plugs, spark plug wires, adjusted the valves, checked the ignition coil to see if it was within spec (it is) and the car still will not fire on those two cylinders. I pulled the spark plugs, and 1 and 2 looked fine, a little rich but fine, and 3 had what looked like some sort of grey dust or something on it. I don't know much about cvcc engines, and I heard that it could be the radio condenser in the ignition system, or maybe the head gasket (I really hope not). I ordered a new cap and rotor just in case. Do you guys have any idea of what the problem may be?
(Also, I checked the search but couldn't find anything. Sorry if there is already a post related to this.)
