It looks like Na-Spirit, Monkeey and myself will be going to RADwood. Anyone else in?

Got my tickets today.  Sounds like 3 of us so far.  We'll post pix after the show.  One of those BAT CRX's was purchased by a Texas buyer - hoping it will show up.  Looking forward to digging out my 80's apparel.

 

Was hoping to get a ticket for my car.  wanted to put my 80's ski rack and skis on top.  I have the Rossie pencil skis identical to Booger's on "Better Off Dead".  I still ski w them

Na-Spirit got the word a few days ago. RADwood rescheduled April 23, saturday due to weather

Radwood got postponed to April 23.  

 

Monkeey and NA-Spirit weren't able to meet up.  So It was Skipps and I.   Sorry I didn't get my car entered to show.  I thought it had too much road wear to me respectable.   But she would have fit right in!  Especially since there were no 1g's.

 

 

 

 

Snuck up on the race track stands and got an arial.  This covers about 1/2 the cars there.

 

 

 

A nice 3G.  There was a wagavan,  but it left before I was able to circle back to take a pix.

Midget imports.  I have no idea what they are.

If I didn't have a crx, I'd be in one of these, or a Pulsar.   But there were ten of them.  So I'll stick w the 1G CRX.  Apparently more rare than I thought.

 

All and all a good time.  Show wasn't very long.  Some cars drove off early.  Only a handful of owners camped next to their cars.  So wasn't able to catch a lot of conversation.  Handful of "for sale" signs.    Most owners were off checking out the other cars.  got some T-shirts, met up w my daughter on campus.   Skipps (MadMax) drove the beater on his first serious highway trip from Austin back to Dallas.

You should have put yours in the show!  We are trying to get the swap done in mine in time to take it to The Honda Meet in CA this month. See if that happens.  Great pics,  I like those older MR2s as well.

my son and I bought tickets.  LMK if anyone is going.  We can meet up.

 

Appears no Japanese car shows in TX.  Just cars & coffee in various towns, or general ones sponsored by dealerships from time to time.

 

This one appears to be the only reasonable match for the Beater at this time

Made it to Radwood Austin 2023 w my son.   

 

Was the only 1g there this year.  There was a good looking 3g hatch.   Kept stopping by the car, but couldn’t catch the owner.

 

Nice to see a wide variety of 80/90’s cars and trucks.   DD’s, trailer queens and a lot in between.  Felt like 300-400 cars???   Hard to tell.  They moved the bleachers this year.   We weren’t able to get an aerial shot of the grounds

There was this girl crawling under my car…..   I was chatting w someone else at the time.   We later connected and she shows me her 103k 89 teg.   Great shape. Basically all original from the factory.  She was looking for the crx’s torsions bars….   very knowledgeable.   We talked about Tail of the Dragon….   Turns out she lives about 3 miles away from me,  Her father set up a website fir this car.  I wish I wrote it down.  Searched the net, but couldn’t find it

 

Chatted w this guy for a while.   Bought it as a DD a while back.  Put about 25k on it and now it’s a weekend car.  113k on the clock.  Hasn’t had any problems.  Another nice unmodified Honda

A local Austin shop brought a couple of their customers cars.  They just repainted this rhd, glass topped crx.  Said the guy paid $20k to import it a while back.  Another $8k for a paint job.  And apparently a ton of performance and Mugen stuff.  Respectfully done….

Austin Radwood April 27th.   MadMax bought a ‘93 Miata.  We’re both going.   Anyone else, lmk….

 

im thinking of tossing my 80’s ski rack and pencil skis on the roof.  I have the same Rossi blue skis that Booger skied down the K2 in “Better Off Dead”.  Want my “ 2 dollars….”   Awesome movie.

 

picked up a vintage metal white/blue Honda dealer plate for the occasion…..

“Better Off Dead”.  Watched the movie last night. Been a few decades.   It’s Charles Dumar.  Wasn’t his skis. But a guy  holding this vintage set of Rossis in the background.  Skiing the K12, not the K 2.

 

 

 

 

I remembered my skis were in this movie.   I just couldn’t throw them away.   Digging them out for Radwood

 

 

 

 

 

last time these skis were on my roof was back in the 1990’s in Vermont .  The Rossis are behind the Volants.  Can’t see them here
