got my car back, fixed a fuel leak.

after 2 days and roughtly 180ish miles since getting it back it died. ran perfect this whole time. got off interstate onto a route, it started sumbling just a little at the first stop sign. sumbled a little at low rpm's (1800-2k with gas pedal coasting car along) but nothing that made me think it would die. had to come to a complete stop to let a car turn in front of me, and when i took off it stumbled then died.

seems and felt like a fuel issue to me. odd thing is when i first owned the car in 2008 with maybe 135k i changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter. it now has 147k on her, just 11k since. it did sit for like 6ish months or so but still. i put 5 gal of fuel in right after i fixed fuel leak. i filled her up yesterday (8.5ish gal) so i know she has good gas.

i havent checked anything yet, i literally just got home. its 8pm and dark and i got work tomorrow. any opinions will be gladly welcomed.

im going to check all the basics first this weekend.

oh btw it still had over 3/4 of a tank. i had my girlfriend bring me some gas and i put another gal or so in for kicks, it didnt start but now gauge is just below full.

also it turns over just fine, fuel pump kicks on and nothing seems out of ordinary. i did prime car 4-5 times a couple times to see if it was a weak pump but it didnt help. also checked all fuses and all good. ecu had no led's lit up and no light on dash.

I'm with him /\
Really sounds like a spark issue.

Check for spark in general, ignition coils die this way often.
Check your wires, plugs, and rotor/cap.
If you have spark, check your cam timing... Maybe the timing belt skipped a tooth or two.

The ignition control module is suspect. $47.99 at rockauto.

spark isnt issue, used a test light and checked coil and distrubitor and both are working fine. i didnt check strength just only see if they worked. i dont have daylight now so tomorrow ill be checking strength of spark and also fuel.

You used a test light? Un-thread a spark plug, plug it into a wire, ground the plug, and crank the engine. If you see spark, it should fire the engine.

I don't trust test light method. Just cause it can light a light bulb, doesn't mean it'll create a spark on a plug with an acceptable dwell.

But it sounds like you've got more testing planned. Hope you nail it.

yeah i only used a test light because i didnt have alot of time to play with her. i just wanted to see if there was infact power, like i posted tho i didnt check strength. i had my oldest daughter this weekend so i was busy between my 2 girls and my girlfriend.

if i have daylight when we get back ill check spark strength. if thats ok ill take fuel feed line off filter to see if filter is getting gas, etc..

okay had a little time. so i pulled a spark plug and checked it, extremly good bright spark so thats ok. pulled the feed hose on the fuel filter (which when i asked my girlfriend to start car and put hose in a can to catch gas, i realized its the engine feed line from filter lol) and filter is pushing fuel. checked injectors to see if they are getting power and they are. i doint have ohm meter tho. i pulled fuel rail and checked bottom of injector on cyl 4 and bottom of injector looked and felt wet.

im not sure exactly how to check to see if injectors are spitting since they come right out of ruel rail when you pull rail up. aside from that the only thing that is different is after i did the devac and got rid of big black box of doom my jumper wire for the plug came missing. as far as i knew that only threw a code tho. oh and btw my ecu isnt throwing any codes and no matter how many times i turn the engine over it doesnt seem to catch onto any issues either...

um, yeah...ideas??

*scrolls up and checks first reply* Yup, I said it. "If you have spark, check your cam timing."

Have you checked your cam timing yet?
