It is finished! Don't have pics yet but its done. Its insured. Its tagged. It passed inspection. It drives (and drives and drives...for some reason I can't stop driving it...hehehe)

stop driving it already. your gonna wear it out and im gonna have to do it all over again. you think your scared of it now, wait till there's a B series and CRV transmission in there!

I do get some funny looks though because people look to see what car is coming (even when I'm going through town at 25) people can hear the sweetness and then....they get this completely fucked up look on their face when they see its a wagon.

...an ugly wagon at that. they are just jealous because your ugly wagon can smoke them

QUOTE (sindrlla @ Apr 21 2009, 02:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I don't drive it to impress though. So, fuck um.

dont fuck um, smoke um! thats what the D16 is in there for. your not gonna impress anyone with it's looks but you can impress them with how it performs

QUOTE (sindrlla @ Apr 21 2009, 02:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

As soon as I can I will post some pics of the best Honda has ever made. (I should probably clean it up a bit and take some nice pics....I didn't for the meet - they saw it in all its filthy naked glory)

beauty is in the eye of the beer holder..... or is that beholder? either way, you will think it's beautiful no matter what, just like an ugly child and thats all that matters. it was still dirty inside and out along with grease still on the front fenders and bumper because it was finally finished less than 48 hours before the meet and road legal less than 20 hours before the meet. im just glad it was able to attend the meet on it's own "wagon power"

QUOTE (sindrlla @ Apr 21 2009, 02:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Anyway, thanks to crxls...without his expertise and creativity it wouldn't have come to be. (or rather it would have been something totally different - - - like lawn art dry.gif )

haha, it almost because crime scene/accident scene art but it was driveway art here at my house for over a year, garage art at wilq's house for about a month or 2 and then garage art at my dad's house for about 10 months before it was finished... i think you use the term "art" a little differently than wilq, my dad and i do...

seriously though, it truly was my pleasure. it started out as our dream together to make your perfect car and im really glad that it could happen through all the differences. i would have felt really incomplete to have not finished a project that started with the search for this car over 9 years ago so im really glad i got to have a big hand in helping create such a unique automobile thats one of a kind to RPR and meant so much to you. please take care of it as im sure you will and im pretty sure it will serve you well for years to come. just remember that you also did a LOT of the work and many others here at RPR helped greatly with basic blacktop swap info.

It's funny how things work out. I WAS going to buy the wagon CRXLS was building, but ran into a money crunch at the time. As fate worked out, I wasn't able to at the time, so now you have a AWD twin cam wagon. However, I sold some things, made up some money, paid off some bills, and I am now the proud owner of a 4WD wagon. I bought Keward's 85 4wd wagon he graciously brought to the meet for me since I was in Arizona for the brother's wedding. The plan is to put a carbed 1.6 ZC in it, if I can find a carbed ZC. I have called an emailed a ton of places to get no emails or calls back. Only Strong 4 Honda of NZ has contacted me back, and shipping will be $$ and they'll only leave it at a seaport for me to pick up. So if I ever find a motor, it's going DOHC too, only carbed. Not trying to hijack the thread, just letting you know there's another wagon moving thru the RPR family.

Truly exciting news Chris!! I know that you will build it right too. I have put thought into going this route in a few years with my build, once I am no longer using it as my daily. Please keep us posted, and good luck on finding your engine.

the DOHC wont work in your wagon. it's not compatible with red interior. your gonna have to change the interior first or the DOHC will never work. why not go FI with the DOHC? just curious. i got an even better idea... pull the ZC outta your crx and put it in the wagon then you have a nice empty crx engine bay to put a B series in

i think Badpenny has a lead on a place that stocks carb'd ZC's...

why not use it as a daily with the dohc D16A1? more power and basically drives like the car should have been built from the factory. as for fuel mileage... a few days after sindrlla started driving her wagon she called me to report 30.86 MPG or so. the best part is that i put roughly 30 of those miles on it and i didnt baby it but i didnt drive it like it was mine either. i guess what im getting at is that she's probably getting 34 MPG or so and her engine isnt even anywhere near stock. it's surely better than the 30 even that she used to get with the stock engine.

sindrlla, any new MPG numbers without me driving it? and where's the pics?!?!?!

The DOHC engines make good power and deliver great MPGs for their relative low cost. I want a carbed ZC because it's simpler for Will to install, they still make good power as I saw with Cpiddy's CRX at N9 if I recall, I want one pretty undependent on electronics for running, and I already have a FI ZC, just kinda want to be different I guess. My ultimate idea is to paint it black/grey to match the CR-X if I ever get some more money in. The red interior is, um, different. However it may work with black exterior. And some different seats or seat covers.

I agree with ChrisF on the ease in installation of the carb'd ZC, and on it's uniqueness. Personally, for me, this would simply mean getting a DCOE intake for the ZC/D16a1, and bolting up my freshly rebuilt Mikuni's to the new engine, and fuel delivery would pretty much be done. Hell, the more I think about it, the more I want to do this over the summer! I know my wife would kill me though. She's SICK of my "under-the-hood" time. But you now pose a STRONG argument about the mpg #'s your wife is now getting Crxls. Of course, I wouldn't get anywhere close to that with my thirsty Mikuni set-up. However, I'm sure it would be much better than my current figure, which will remain embarrassingly and disappointedly disclosed....
