Well my 85 Si is almost ready to roll again (that is, after the cv shafts, struts, rear tranny mount, and shift linkage are back together) with the Dx tranny Rpr gave me at N10 (thanks again!!). I was just curious with the difference in gear ratios, will the car be noticably slower? and is it a 4 or 5 speed?
thanks and enjoy,
Jacques

Apparently the 85 CRX Si came with a shorter gear ratio than all others.... I think its in the service manual and you can check your vin to find out.
In other words, the DX tranny might be a bit slower, but you aren't going to notice a HUGE difference.
Here is one way to find out: at 100km/h, I am turning 3000rpm, thats an 87 Si Tranny, also the same as my 86 DX tranny, both CDM. What RPM are you at when doing 60mph?
Also, top speeds: (at 6500rpm)
1st gear: 50km/h
2nd gear: 80km/h
3rd gear: 120km/h
4th gear: 200km/h
5th gear: HA!
Cheers,
Mark

That's odd... in my '85 Cr-x Dx I'm pulling the following
(Redline shift @ 6500rpm's)
1st gear: 35 mph
2nd gear: 60 mph
3rd gear: 90 mph
4th gear: wont break 115mph (@ 4k)
5th gear: (the skys the limit...)
As well (in 5th) I sit at about 70mph @ 3k
PS. I'm almost positive that only the automatics were 4 speed.

Sound exactly the same as the tranny on my '87 carbed CDM CRX.
That 50kph redline in first is usefull getting up to speed fast on a road w/a 50kph limit without worrying about speeding... :-)

I can pull off 60mph in 2nd with a 89 teg tranny but thats a 7500rpm shift.
You must have pretty long gears.

I had a 85Si tranny put in my 87DX and it made a difference just off the line.

i think that's because the CDM Dx = (more or less) a carb'd Si. same (or EXTEMELY close) tranny i would believe.

Thats what I was suggesting
I think all the trannies are the same up in Canada for gearing, and apperently there were some wierd ratios in the states, like 49-state, HF, and Super-low Si or something like that.
Very confusing
Cheers,
Mark
