So I yanked the D16A1 donor motor from a wrecked teg last night. In reading the SCC article posted in the FAQ section, I noticed that the Clutch and Throttle cables needed to be swapped as well. Clutch cable came out with no problems. The throttle cable, however, took some "gentle massaging" (read 'f*&^ing mangling.) Upon inspection of the shattered remains of the plastic piece in the firewall, it looks as though the plastic piece should rotate 90 degrees and slide out, but I'll be damned if I could get it to rotate at all. Anyone have advice on how to do this the "right" way? Anyone have an intact throttle cable including the plastic bit? wink.gif

yes, you do need Teg clutch cable for the swap but lucky you, you don't have to use Teg throttle cable for d16a1 swap ..
here's how to use your existing 1g/3g throttle cable.

Recyling is not the answer. Using less to begin with is.

COOL! Good call. I hadn't looked at the CRX piece yet. Did you get rid of the rubber/plastic bits without removing the entire cable? I'd still like to know the "trick" behind getting that plastic piece @ the firewall out.

I used the crx clutch and throttle cable when I put my blacktop d16a1 in.

i'd recommend doing it with the cable completely removed.
1. disconnect from the throttle end (2 nuts by the intake + where it mates to the spring)
2. disconnect cable from the pedal underdash
3. go under hood toward the firewall, rotate the entire plastic piece counter-clockwise about half a turn.., cable should come out towards you.
!! do not force the cable out!! if it doesn't come out easily, either you didn't turn enough OR turned it too much. OR you didn't disconnect properly from the pedal.

also, although you can use the CRX clutch cable, the Teg clutch cable is slightly shorter and easier to adjust with less slack in the engine bay.
