Not necessarily. If you have a couple manuals, Helms being the main one needed, then you should be ok, assuming you have some  mechanical abilities, tools, and common sense.

It's something that usually takes a few years to find. I'm still looking...

Did you bend a couple of vavles? Or are you taking the head off to find out.
As long as its not your primary(or only) mode of transportation I say go for it.

Yeah common sense, I've forgotten to take that out of my tool box on a few occassions.
Like when i didn't tighten the lugs all the way...hmmm

Truth is,i dont really know if any of the valves are bent,i broke the timing belt pretty much at idle and only tried to crank it over a couple of times before i checked the belt and seen it snap,i basically wanna put a new cam, like the most aggresive one they make for the carbed d15,and get a header, and drive it:)

I would say check the compression first, and if you don't have any problems with compression, then don't pull the head. The cam can be done very easily and does not require the head to be pulled. Same with the header. I broke a timing belt on my 91, and there were no valve problems. It was at idle as well.
