I've seen pics of it done, but I think everything was custom. I don't think anyone makes a kit for it, but I've been known to be wrong... smile.gif

One of my local Honda buddies is putting a B20B in a 87 Crx Si.  He's building this to be a drag car, but since he's got the full race suspension (except adj. panhard bar) I'm going to influence him to try it out at autocrossing.  Wondering if the weight bias will be an issue.

Seeing how his engine is being built (11+something compression), it will probably have little low end and lots of top end.

BTW, I think he got mounts from Hasport.  Hoping to be done in a few months.

What type of driving will you be doing with the H22?

you must know the front will be very heavy but since its only a drag car it should be fine - well if you do it keep us updated - should be very cool and quick biggrin.gif

Well, if you have the H22 stock mounts, you could reweld them into the chassis at the right place. You'd get better performance out of a B20, or turbo B16 though.

Slapping a turbo on a H22 will cost alot more than $500 FYI.
The B series engines have a wider variety and a freakin huge aftermarket.
Not to mention they all use the same mounts.
A B20 block with a VTEC head (from a B18C1 or B16A) in a 1G CRX chassis will be more than enough power, I've seen guys run mid 13's with little work done to the engine.

Just imagine the times with a turbo on that setup!
Besides, the H22A is an enormous engine, I have doubts about it fitting into the CRX engine bay just right.

Even if you are getting the H22 for $500 (which is what I assume from what you posted), it might still cost you more to get that in, with all the custom work (unless you happen to be/know a welder/fabricator) than a B20/B16.

I think you will have a clearance problem with this install

I know a guy who put a 1999 teg GSR engine into a 85 civic and they have to cut a bit of the fire wall to make clearance and the point here is that the H22 is even bigger than the 1.8L

Prepare for some cutting

My thoughts too Doodson, the intake manifold on the B18C1 is situated differently than the B16, so it hits the firewall in our engines.
If you were really good with welding or machining, you could position the custom mounts to sit where it would fit kinda low, for clearance. But when the oil pan and crakshaft hit the road, don't say I didn't warn you.

oo an btw..

rpr ... yeah the engine is 500... luckily for me ... i have a few hook ups for the dropping but your probably right.. i just have to convey all this to my partner who has it stuck in his head that we'll get more performance out of the H22 .. *which i always argued with*... in any case..  im praying for a good deal on a B18/B20.. that would be nice....

any ideas?
