#345722 Steering Rack

Posted by PacerRacerGirl on 17 July 2007 - 12:28 AM in 3G Civic

I kinda did it backwards. I posted then searched.

I'm pretty sure any rack will fit.

Dont quote me but im pretty sure they are all the same demensions and stuff. The HF rack has a slighty quicker ratio, like half a turn less to lock.

#345695 Steering Rack

Posted by PacerRacerGirl on 16 July 2007 - 08:34 PM in 3G Civic

Hi everyone. it's been a while since I have posted.

I need to replace my steering rack in my 87 Si (Hatch). It has too much play on the passenger side. I thought at first it was the inner tie rod, but after taking it off the outer tie rod, it was obvious it was the rack and not the inner tie rod.

Anyway, are all racks interchangeable? Can I take one off a CRX and put it on my Hatch? Does it need to be a Si specific one? Can I take one off of a different trim level? Aren't they all the same or am I going to run into a problem.

A P/S conversion would be nice, but is probably beyond my abilities. I just want the car to be safe and continue to be as reliable as a rock.

Just make sure its clean and dry and use a small dab of Honda Bond.  Let it set and dry before refilling.

Thanks Greg, that's exactly it!!!

#307879 Upper Radiator Hose Inlet

Posted by PacerRacerGirl on 19 November 2006 - 12:16 PM in 3G Civic

Does the upper radiator hose inlet have a gasket? I've looked through the service manual here and can't find any reference to it at all. (Not even an exploded diagram with it being taken off)

I took it off thinking the thermostat was under there. -I should have looked at the service manual on here first.

I used a little blue RTV to put it back together and now it leaks like crazy.

any help please.

#290676 Would You Still Talk To Me If I Had A Spec Miata?

Posted by PacerRacerGirl on 10 September 2006 - 11:54 PM in Competition

I won't hate you.

Come to the dark side. Miata's are the most beautiful handling cars ever made. Every time I'm on the track all over the bumper of some M3 or EVO I'm yelling ... "I love this car!!!" biggrin.gif (That and "give me a point-by you @*&%@")

Until the straights. dry.gif

...Must get more power.

It's a good thing the Civic is such a good parts hauler.

#281647 Tein Suspension Update

Stock rear spring rate for a Civic Si is 120lb/in for those who don't know.

Put 450's on the car and drive it on the street and you will have a vomit comet. (At least that was my experience with 450/Koni's) Too much unsprung weight in the back.

But it handled great on the track! 275 seems great to me for street use.
