Like this?

Its really easy, you will need a sandwich plate between your oil filter and block, then build some lines to path the oil form the block to the cooler (and back to the sandwich plate) and mount the cooler lol

agreed.

also, we have had very little success with external oil coolers on b16 & B18 vtec power plants. B18 non vtec, no problem.
We always ran into oil pressure related matters and having vtec engage properly since they coincide with one another.
Daily driving, no problem. High stress & high rpm situation, no bueno. sad.gif

this is a show car that has some goodies , but by no means is a auto x car or a drag car. goes to car shows and the occasional street race. (on the autobahn of course)

Correct, But for the Air to Oil radiator type when driving around town when it is cold. You have to watch the oil temp and make sure it is hot. On my original Mini I'd tape the cooler off in the cold season.

Now for Water to Oil types (like the SI oil cooler) the oil is kept at water temp or higher.

Also for the Air to Oil set up, there are oil thermostats available that auto bypasses the cooler until the oil temp tells it to start flowing oil through the cooler.

Most likely a flow issue due to hose sizing and cooler flow sizing. betcha -8 size is too small, need -10 or larger. Ya need to measure the OP out of the pump and then again into the block to make sure the delta pressure is not to great. Size the hoses and cooler based on delta-P. Hose length can also add to loss of P forcing you to go one size larger. Like in rear engined cars with front mount cooler. This is why Water to Oil coolers are used more and more.
