This past weekend I purchased a 1985 CRX with 44k original miles from the original owner a true “Pristine” barn find..
The car has one issue that I need help in identifying, when the AC is running the RPM drops below 500 and stalls. I know that an AC assist relay or vacuum diaphragm assist is needed to raise the idle when under load.
My question is where is the Relay or diaphragm located so I can begin the trouble-shooting. Also, is it a parts store or dealer only item ??? Thx, Jeff

Some call it a "Six-Pack"... I call it a support group..

The idle booster is the diaphragm low on the driver's side of the carb.

Unless it's an Si. Then it's mounted on the firewall, just to the left of the coil as you face the car.

It’s a “DX Model”… Does anyone have any thoughts on what a 1985 DX with 44k miles might be worth?? The interior and paint are perfect, this is a true museum piece…

44K CRX huh? Thats much too low. These cars are only worth anything past 200K.... period. Just drop it off at my place tommorrow and I'll save you the trouble of adding on the miles to increase the value. ph34r.gif

try bumping up the idle to compensate the stalling....the previous owner may not have kept everything in tune right.....
Driving down the road, stereo cranked !!!

i recently got my car running and it would drop so low with the ac on that it would almost die ( sometimes it would) , my friend took a look at it and said the compressor bearings(?) are starting to lock up, and that it still turns but its so hard to turn that it is bogging the engine way down ...

so maybe your compressor is doing the same thing? we un plugged mine and it all is well ( except for the ac)

now i am still very wet behind the ears when it comes to car repair so yea im probably way off , but i thought i would throw it out there ....

I was gonna say that if the vac/diaphragm thing doesn't work out to try looking at the compressor so you might not be that far off.
