Go to www.majestichonda.com and have a look at the blow up of the trans and you will see the O-Ring that's gone. Not a fun fix.

yea scott its the shift rod seal. I just purchased it of some random website for $14 shipped. The part I could not find is the worn out boot, I may have to try to come out with something creative using some type of gromet. Only purpose it has is keeping junk and debris out. Im searching for a DIY but have not found any info.

Well...guess I'll start this up again. I, too am in need of this replacement boot for the shift shaft. (OE pn=24316-679-000 discontinued) Anyone care to jump in with a possible substitute? Anyone know if the same part from the '88 up honda's will work? Looks different in the parts diagrams but...? Any help greatly appreciated!

I recall all the boots were toast as well. I was able to replace w nos. I'm sure there's an alt boot that can fit. might need some hose clamps or doughnut spacers
