I"d just like to toss this out there on the whole ls vtec debate

the ls and crv blocks do not have oil squirters in the bottom, therefore making them a piss poor choice to rev past the stock limit of ~7200. The reason ls/crv/tec's have a bad history is people slap on a vtec head and try to rev them to the same rpm as the motor the head came off with. The poor lubrication causes these motors to fail, usualy catrosphicly.

so to sum it up, ls vtec is ok if you dont try to push it, but if you do, the motor will not be long for this world (as past rants on most forums go) Dont get me wrong, they can make a good amount of power but there are far better and cheaper choices to make the same power safely.

IE "stroked" b16 with a LS crank, rods, and pistons (but i'd go aftermarket rods and pistons)
its the same thing as a LS/vtec but better built to handle high revs due to the oil squirters.

ok id like to toss out another debate out there for Mr. bridgework1812. Please explain to me how i have been running the ls/vtec set up for a year now and have have not one problem. I have stock bottom end except for arp rod boltsand i rev to 9500 daily. As a matter a fact i just port and polished my head and got the edelbrock intake mani and dh racing throttle body and now run 12.2 at the local drag strip. You make a good point though dumbass's dont and cant build ls/vtec to last like crx_06, fuck you dude.

any motor can be built to run reliable. My friend as a CR-Vtec motor in his del sol and said it ran like a mutha. Only problem is he kept loosing thrust washers for some reason (He thinks the clutch was to strong) Right now he is running a GSR engine and lemme tell you, he runs that thing into the ground and its a 100% stock jdm motor. Just because you had a bad experience or someone you know did doesnt mean it cant be built to run without complications.

fuck me...wow, nice language.

keep reving youir motor to 9500, enjoy picking up the pieces of it when they are strewn all down the track.

I have actualy seen an ls vtec that has made it 3 years reving up to 9k, but it is a fluke, like yours, because i've seen a 100 more that didnt last. The fact is, LS/vtec motors dont last. You are in a minority, and its amazing that your motor hasnt blown up yet, especialy if you are revving up to 9500.
