Hey everyone, I just bought a 1987 CRX SI to turn into a track car. The car runs but it has horrible fuel smoke and the oil smells like gas the pgm Fi light is also on. I have replaced the plugs,o2 sensor, and fuel pressure regulator but it still smokes like crazy. I did a compression test and all the cylinders were between 150-155 so all good there. Anyone have any ideas?

That usually means that you have bad rings.

If I had bad rings wouldn't it fail the compression test?

I agree, you'd think a compression test would say the rings are bad.   Doesn't make sense.

But..change the oil before you ruin the rings any worse.

Read the codes?  (Sorry, I'm a carb only guy.)

I'd also check if your injectors are leaking.  One or more could be stuck open causing the smoking, and if they're leaking, it would likely be the cause of your oil smelling like gas.

I also just found out for some reason my car doesn't have a MAP sensor..... would this effect anything?

Typically no MAP = super rich

Well that makes a lot of sense..I wonder what possessed the previous owner to delete the MAP
