I am currently rebuilding 3 race engines, 1 was mine all suffered the same problem

 

The oil pump pick up broke off resulting in catastrophic engine failure......new holes in the block where the piston and rod tried to escape

 

Does anyone have a good fix or replacement for the factory pick up?

Wow are you sure that happened the one ew i grenaded
Took out the oil pickup when i threw a rod.

I never figured oyt why that motor failed mabye the pickup broke?

Ask Greg Gauper what he did to remedy this. I know he and others have had this happen in the past, and supposedly adding braces to the assembly took care of it.
