Forgot to mention I did a filter as well. Keep the suggestions coming....
It just occured to me...did you replace (or remove) that little filter that's inside the fuel pump inlet?
If you love the Elise, drive a Se7en - Caterham or whatever...
It has even less content than the Elise, is less graceful looking
...and changes direction like a ping pong ball whacked by Thor.

No I didn't.....If I just replaced the pump it should change the filter as well right?

I'll send you pictures of the temperature sensor. It sounds like the change with the new coil might indicate the problem may be in the spark. Did you change the ignitor on the side of the distributor? Other suspect ignition parts I can think of would be the rotor, cap, wires and plugs.

You checked the ignition timing, DID YOU CHECK THE CAM TIMING FIRST?
Bad cam timing can be your problem.

I should have read everything you had posted up to this point!
Put in a NEW coil and see if that helps, Just a hunch (from some very recent similar symptoms/experiences).
As for the small filter I mentioned, if you just replaced the pump with a new one,
1. Was it a stock Honda pump?
2. IF it had one in the inlet new (unlikely) then I wouldn't think you would need to replace it.
I've got a real good feeling about the coil issue though.
But hey, I'm not perfect .

I had this same problem for about a year, for some stuped reason the car hase the timing all scrued up, what I did after nearli replasing the whole car with new parts is, i opened the distribitur cap disasembeled vacuum on top of the distributur and titened all the way the metal bar that is attached to the advance plate in the distribitur, asembeled and it was as if was driving diferent car, on the fuel presure isue try to plug the return fuel line with a bolt, see if it makes diference if it does it is most likely to be tha fuel calmer on the fuel pump, the nut that tightens the fuel line to the pump hase a plastic cap teke it of and tighten the little screw all the way same with the one on the fuel rail. I hope this helps and sory for my speling and technical english.
