Question. Are the springs on the exhaust downpipe to the rest of the system that have the bolts running through them, are they under compressive load?


The reason I ask is that I really don't want a spring flying off and hitting me in the face if I disconnect it.

I didn't have them hit me when I took it apart. So, it's not enough of a load to matter.

I am in the middle of a swap and need to know "Which mount, is considered the transmission mount?" The one on the back or the one on the passengers side? Its an automatic and I am needing to pick up one. I cant readily tell with my others, due to them not being stripped down. I just want to be certain.

the passenger side mount, that is hung under the frame rail

i do believe the one at the back is called the rear mount

Thanks. From what I can tell there isn't much difference in the manual transmission mount and the automatic transmission mount. and the one at the back (rear mount) looks identical to the one on the hatches. The transmission mounts have very little differences, unless..... The bushing is different. But I believe its just the one that mounts to the transmission itself. It actually looks like double the thickness.

Well, my thoughts about "Stop Leak" are confirmed. I hate the stuff. I found out why I have no heat and why the car is blowing hoses. The oil cooler is bunged up with the stuff. So. I need to know how to remove the Oil cooler and sleeve, so I can run without one. Or How do I convert the Dx block to accept an Oil cooler, it appears that there is a sleeve that I will need to remove from the Dx block in order to allow the Oil cooler to mount properly.

Update: The reason the hoses were being blown was because they were 20 years old. I ran it hard for about 30 min today after spending $30 replacing hoses. Never got above a third.


So, the next test is see how it does in city traffic and watch the temp guage.

If all goes well this week, then saturday I will be in OKC.

Question: What causes the si to bog if the throttle is punched? I have a very touchy pedal, one quarter makes the car take off like a rocket, halfway to full, makes the car bog down. Any Ideas?

sounds like a advance throttle hose is hocked up wrong and not opening.

I will check this. I am off for the rest of the week(end) I will take a look at them. Plus attempt, for the 3rd time, to get the transmission mounted on the sedan. Man that is tough without a jack or an extra set of arms.


Hopefully, all will go well with this one.

Well, its been a while but this is what has happened so far.

12-12-06 Something happened to make the car start chugging, after thinking it was the headgasket blowing, I tore down the motor. Nope, not the headgasket, but it was too late, I did notice that the gasket had started falling to pieces in the sleeves for the coolant. And due to the fact that a helicoil had been installed and failed by the 2nd owner (guy who sold it to me, before I sold it to deadpool7372) I felt it was time to just gut the car.


Well, after having the car set in the driveway at my new home (moved 12-19-06) I have gutted the car, put up a forsale post here, and ended up giving just about all the Si stuff (frame chasis and interior) to another member, and we shall not speak of this again. Oh, and he got it delivered. (4-24-06) SO, this is the end of this thread.

Hopefully, he will do well with it. Its getting an 88 teggy transplant. It needed it.


BTW: drag13honda, any of those suspension parts or drum brakes you don't need.....Just let me know. I will be more than happy to take them back.
