1987 Civic Si Swap Questions.

I have a 1987 civic si that I am thinking of swapping in another motor but I would like a drop in setup. I have read in areas that the zc is the only replacement engine that requires nothing. Is this true or do I have to replace axles,trans,mounts,etc? And the zc engine the dohc or sohc? What car is the zc out of? Please help I have a hf manifold,14b turbo,dsm 450cc injectors,fmic,super loud bov just waiting and I not sure the 200k stock motor will take it. This is my backup car. I am a domestic guy so the d16yz9a s20 trans a19 head is all confusing to me. So please break it down for me what I would need from what.

Assuming you are talking about a USDM Civic Si. The location isn't filled in on your profile, so not positive.

The absolute easiest thing to do is to get a '86-'87 USDM Integra.
This would be a D16A1 1.6L DOHC vacuum advance motor.
(The '88-'89 Integras are also a D16A1, but are electronic advance instead of vacuum, so there is a wiring change if you get one of those).

Personally, I recommend getting an entire car if you can. I found one at a local used car dealer for like $300.
There are a few things you need from the integra other than the motor. Its been some years but I think:
axles
motor mounts (i think you use 2 from the civic and 1 from the teg or something like that.)
throttle and/or tranny cable (one or the other, or maybe it was both?)
Exhaust manifold (use the manifold section bolted to the motor from the teg, and the downpipe from the civic, and the exhaust will bolt up correctly to the stock civic exhaust pipe. If you use the teg downpipe, it end up a couple inches longer, and you'll need to shorten the exhaust pipe).

If you pick up a whole car, you can also swap:
Seats
Steering Wheel
Front brakes (little bigger calipers. I think you swap the knuckles)
Front torsion bars (with a bit of modification)
Rear axle (disc brakes, with a little modification)
and probably a bunch of other stuff that i'm missing.

Theres probably a sticky somewhere, or look in the FAQ section. There should be a list of what swaps over easilly.
Anyway, if you had a whole teg to work from, and are fairly handy with a wrench, the D16A1 swap from an '86-'87 teg is pretty much a weekend job.

Oh, and the ZC is a non-US version of the D16A1 that had a little more agressive head and cam profile, and a couple other minor differences, but makes some more power that its USDM brother (off the top of my head, I think the US D16A1 is factory rated at 112 HP, and the JDM ZC is around 130 HP). However finding a true JDM ZC will probably cost a bit more, and you may not get everything you need for the swap. Getting a whole car is much easier.

You most definetly want a 88-89 teg motor with that turbo. Using a 86-87 means you can't tune it and that is disaster waiting to happen
