I'd have to consult my "log books" but I don't think 550 would be enough for the front. Do you know what your car weighs? I been working the Bentonville Film Festival and playing "spot the celebrities." I can look when i get home in a bit.

My car is extremely light (1660 with me) and I don't think 550 would do it. I use three $8 Walmart scales with a 4x4 across them. Then use a 1x12 pad to catch all of the tire. A folded up trash bag (very slick) on top of the pad will allow the suspension to settle where it wants to. I jus jack it up, center the crap under the tire, set it down, and bounce the car a little. Wiggling the steering wheel helps too.

My current corner weights.

519 619

365 155

If I balanced it, it would be at 570 on each front. Which may be where I'm going with my new traction. My scale rig is super redneck and crude but repeatable within a few pounds. When life calms down, I will build some Ruggles.

Thanks for the reply, I'll seek other options. My car weighs more I'm sure.

Google "Ruggles scales." Some complain they are not repeatable on weights but I think it depends on how tedious a person is. They can be found for sale occasionally but super simple to build.

I found an old crappy picture from early last year before the front end got ripped off.

This methods could be improved I'm sure but seems to work within 1%. Just make sure the scales are very level on the floor. Side to side is probably more important than end to end.

I'm curious what route you go.

I was looking at theses
http://www.amazon.co...ZTGCENQFQQPP5PG

With me in the car the fronts were well over 600 lbs so the bathroom scales would not work.

3 bathroom scales will weigh 900#. If you watch scale prices, they can often be had for $700 ish with free shipping. But those are the 9v battery type. I wouldn't be afraid of em. I passed on a $500 set of longacres because they were 4 hours away.
