I had a Mosin Nagant the one with the super duper long barrel.
Like 41 manufacture before the war got really bad on the industry there.
If this is the bolt action one you are talking about. I don't know if there is
some modern version that recycled the name.
My uncle who was an avid outdoorsman and vietnam hero hit almost right on
way way way far target (normal size target from walmart). It was so far I
couldn't see it (we had to ride an ATV from where we were shooting to the
target).
This is not something I would shoot in the city for any reason short of Z-day or
some other catastrophie. I don't think its a great choice for normal home defense
of the intruder.

The one I have has the extended barrel.
However, that is the one I am talking about.
I don't think that would be good for home defense if
you live in a populated area.

Well for home defense, I'll use the shotgun, or 9mm. I'll only use the Mosin if the Redcoats are coming.

I hope that you have educated your kids about your guns and store them safely. I remember when I was a stupid kid I thought it would be cool to show my dad's Ruger Mk1 to a neighbor kid. I dropped it...the fact nobody got hurt was purely due to dad's judgement, not mine.
I have a 1961 Sears JC Higgins 12ga, made by Hi Power. It was my granddad's. She has a long barrel and a ventilated choke on it that makes her look pretty mean. It's nothing special, pretty beat up but quite accurate and the action is buttery smooth. I like to shoot skeet with it sometimes. I keep it unloaded though. I can't imagine a home invasion situation where I could use it effectively for anything other than sound effects and guarantee my family's safety. This is doubly because the invader would likely be a brother or cousin stumbling by drunk and wanting a place to sleep. I wouldn't trust myself to make that distinction in the dark.

"GReddy e-manage" is excellent in the generality and the expansion. And it is a low price further. Therefore, you can direct an engine too economy, easily. Then, you are relieved, and you can choose it. Future tuning begins first from "e".

I figure if the kids shoot themselves a couple times, they'll learn not to play with guns. Seriously, I had a good talk with my daughter about why I have the guns, why she shouldn't touch them, and what to do if at a friend's house and they find their dad's guns. I keep all my guns and magazines or clips seperate, and guns unloaded and put up for now until I get my gun cabinet for Christmas. When my son is old enough to comprehend, I'll talk to him as well. Accidental shooting and overpenetration are two major points I've considered.

Well if your using a handgun for home protection, chances are you wont be firing at anything further than 10-20 feet away, unless you plan on shooting someone in the back while there running from you which is very very ilegle. And your wife couldn't handle a 12 ga. shotgun? Did she even get a chance to hold or fire one? In my opinion, there really not that much heavier than a 20 ga., and really dont kick that much, especially with a sissy pad on the stock. If you wanted somethin that doesn't kick, get a .22. Thats loud enough to scare someone robbing you off...my wife is 5'0" 105 and she goes shooting with me regularly handling my 12 ga., .52 & .54 muzzle loader, and she hunts with a .270 hunting rifle. Woman aren't as frail as most of us men think, they can handle pretty much anything we can....they just dont want to

I have a .22 rifle, but I'm saving up for a used little S&W .22 DA Revolver my gunsmith has on consignment. The revolver should be able to handle yellowjackets, the only .22 round I think that may offer any resistance.
