Hey guys and gals.

I was out yarding and just happen to walk past a mini van that just looked too nice and clean to be in there.

Well, I just HAD to and at 15.00ea I couldn't pass it up. (I had recently given an idea of one could text for say .50 and have a vehicle come to help take large part(s) up to the sales office)

They come out with just a tug on a strap and even have little rollers for when their out of the vehicle.

It doesn't look like much but, the bottom structure/framing weighs almost as much as the seat itself.

The main thing I liked about the new seats are the arm rest option. Either up or down.

Then the color matching to my civic really solidified the deal.

The vehicle in question? well, this one is a '05 Kia Sedona.  The out-board flip up arm rest just slightly interferes with the door arm rest, but this is on a civic hatch. Don't have a 1g crx to check.

What I did was to unbolt the stock sliders, bolt them back in place on floor, weld flat stock basically making a square. Taking the frame back off and adapting to bottom of seat. (OH, there are two little bolts that hold the stock slider lock)

Ok OK.. Here's some pics. It got late and my flash only goes so far.

I had my laptop 'worked on' and he changed it to Picasa. So I don't know what it's gonna do with Imageshack.

OH, forgot to mention that Honda 'male' seat belt WON'T go in the Sedona female.

and had to trim the inner bottom plastic that no one will ever see.

Kinda strained my back blasting, so I'll be taking more pics later tomorrow.

AND, if someone wants to change it from links to actual pics, go ahead..

Those are really clean seats. How much head room did you lose?

Good score!

That's why I couldn't believe that it (the van) was there.. NO DAMAGE, just up on the stands, and with a 3.5L engine! I remember reading of either the Kia or Hyundai 3.5 being useful for swaps into ____?? can't remember and dont really want to spend time looking. NOW, these are the second and 3rd row seats.

The front seats (D/S) had wear from sliding in and out.

Yes, they're really clean! NO french fries, gummy bears, marker marks. Just wiped them down with cheap Dollar store leather cleaner/conditioner and BAM..

(oh, and got the VERY nice speakers from it too! VERY nice separates, just need a cross over or resisters. The foam looks high quality rubber/whatever.

I don't think it was more than 1.5".

I'm 6', about 195 and it seems to fit and sit well. (for the 15min that I sat in it) my back was killing me, and it was getting dark so I didn't get to really measure. BUT, I'll try and get a measurement today some time if it doesn't rain AGAIN.. My bones don't like sitting down 5" from the ground any more. Plus, I don't like my elbow above chest level. I can't stand the newer cars where you can't rest your arm without it being up at ones ear level.. it's like you're in a tub.

I'll get it from lowest part of seat to headliner.

The R-arm rest is thin enough that it didn't seem to get in the way for the E-brake. BUT then again, the p/s seat isn't in yet.

Then the rear seats are going to be pulled and evaluated on the "is it really worth modding them in or just have the stock ones recovered" Obviously it would be TONS cheaper to make them fit. Plus the way that they lay down might be lower than stock dims.

I measured (roughly) the width of the rear seat, and it looks like there will be about 1-2" gap in the dividing gap between them or split the difference, make them closer and have some near the outer (door) side.

They also pretty much lay flat (going backward), so the shock tower will stop the rear-ward motion.

I'll try and pull the rears today and see if the lower 'slider' can be used in addition. That would be cool..

SEAT BELTS.. This is the only issue that I see with the rears. Although a slight 'hick-up', I should be able to dig through a Odyssey looking for extended seat belts to bolt under or through them.

I think that the Kia seats had them go through little cut outs. So, if the civic ones go through, well fine. DONE.

All that's there is to make a frame and bolt in. (if there isn't one already)

I'll try and post pics later today.

OH, a side note. for all the "technologically challenged"  I don't really show all the dirty little details since it's pretty straight forward and obvious of what needs to be done.  That's the FUN of it.. Ahh stitches, burns, tetanus shots..

The more I thought of it, I'll take some pics when i do the pass side.

Heck, I'm the one asking for visuals in other threads..

Joseph, I didn't measure with the stock seat but I got about 1.5 finger widths between the headliner and touching my head.

So, I guess it's close, but I don't realize it. My hair (what's left) doesn't stick up so I don't feel it.

Kinda like sitting up higher anyway.
