Well... I went to start her up this morning, and since I know my FPR is crapped, I always prime it two or three times. I Primed it, went to start, no start.
Went to prime again, don't hear the pump, AND The PGM-FI light doesn't come on.
Checked all my fuses, including bar fuses under the hood, everything looks good.
I know there have always been issues with the main relays in Hondas. I know it is on the driver side kick panel area.
Are the main relay and fuel pump relay different in this car?
I need all the help I can get on this one, I am suppose to start a new job today.

no difference, the main relay is the "main fuel pump" relay....
they are repairable if you have a soldering iron...
basically, just pull the cap off and re-solder all the joints thoroughly...
Hope that helps...

You really know you have made it far on rpr when someone quotes you in their signature. I can't wait for the day!

My next question is this... where exactly is it, on my 87 SI -FI? Anyone have pics? does it have a bracket holding it on?

it should be up by the fuse box...
should be on the outside wall, and labelled RZ-0042 12V
it has an 8 pin connector plugged into it.

I just went and looked at mine...
It is on a metal bracket right behind the fuse box...
Can't actually read the "label" with how it is installed, but the only 8 pin relay behind the fuse box
kind of a PITA to get to

Ok I got it out. It wasn't held in very securely. So I am guess Vibrations rattled it pretty bad. What should I look for once I have it apart. I never learned to solder.

you may see a couple of the solder points look to have breaks in them, but the issue is not always visible to the naked eye.
I would just retouch all of them to be on the safe side.
just make sure you have the new solder and the gun both touching the point you are soldering,
and make sure you do not end up connecting points that are not already connected, as that will create
a short when you go to plug it back in...
and try not to "burn" the green part of the board if you can help it...

That actually looks pretty normal...
It's hidden in a box, so they didn't go back and clean the flux stuff off once it was soldered.
that should be pretty easy to touch up, it's really not very hard once you get used to it...

Does anyone have a diagram of the relay so that I can bench test it properly?

They are my friends, and I am also their website tech, so they don't charge me for anything. Professional trade relationship, they do what I ask for free.
