1) They are a lot stiffer than any kind of OEM-style shock/strut (duh!). They do not have click stops like Illuminas or other street "performance" shock/struts, you just twist the adjuster to the stiffness you think you need. Not having any kind of reference, I put in a full twist of firmness on the rears and a twist and a half for the fronts. The short test run around the neighborhood felt OK and so I took a 30 mile run down the LA freeways as an extended test. Oooohhhh Boooooy those baby are stiff! Like almost no movement in the suspension stiff. Too stiff for lousy LA freeway pavement stiff. Shake the fillings out of your teeth stiff. This can not go on stiff.

I backed way off on the stiffness and ran another 30 miles back home and that was a LOT better. I am looking forward to getting the car on a smooth track for more testing and tuning. For street driving... well, these shocks are not well suited for street driving, but if I do drive this car on the streets I will back the firmness even more.

2) Konis make all the imperfections in your suspension come to light. Minor problems in alignment are brought forward, front and center. Is your alignment was off by a smidge? You will discover that it is WAY off with Konis. Corner weights not close? You will be begging to get your car on the scales once the Konis are on.

3) If you have a loose rattle before you now have a symphony of parts calling out to you now.

As I have learned from first hand observation: There is a world difference between "performance" parts and real racing parts.

Have a go with the teins on full setting, you will feel our pain. On light setting, and lowered 2", I can't bottom them out.

Anyways, konis ftw.

Yes, they are shortened.

Yes, it is expensive to have them rebuilt, shortened and have the rears converted to externally adjustable.

No, I can not wait to get the car on the track.

Well ya got Koni sport (yellow), reds, and oranges.  The oranges are supposed to be the mildest.

I suppose that you're talking about Koni Sports (Yellows).

I've got a set of yellow on my CRX and a set for my Prelude.  The good thing about them is they are compatible with very high spring rates.

where did you get them?

I understand the only place you can have Konis rebuilt is Koni, and they bend you over.

Koni no longer makes shocks/struts for our cars. I bought mine used and had them shortened and rebuilt. The cost is stupid. Stupid like... it might be better to just tear up the bills and light them on fire because it makes a pretty glow.

It is a sickness. I am compelled to keep adding lightness and speed to this car. Remember "Gotta catch them all?" Its like that but greasier.

I am still making tiny adjustments to the height settings, I will take some height out of the back this afternoon to match the fronts.

You can have them done at Koni in Kentucky (I think) or at ProParts in California. I think TrueChoice may still do it too. Regardless, it can be expensive depending on what you're having done. If you send in shocks to be revalved, shortened, and made double adjustable, it will cost about $500 each. That being said, I don't know if you can get a better performance shock for our cars.

ProParts is in my metaphorical backyard. They do good work... but this is not for budget minded enthusiasts.

Do you know anyone who currently have them? I have a few more questions to ask

I used a set of ITR Konis in the rear of a CRX a few years ago. My memory may be a little sketchy, but feel free to ask away. Send me a PM.
