^Yeah, I know. He apparently had a "grazing" contact with a curb in a waving yellow corner which caused a spin...unfortunately into a safety truck. :( Really sucks because he was leading by a bunch. Finished the race, but was DQ'd later.

I guess it's like the Ohio law that gives you a ticket for "failure to control".  You spun so you must not have been driving in control.  Hard to argue about that.

Or the CA law about "driving too fast for conditions".  No matter what bad thing happens you were driving too fast for conditions.  Deer runs out in front of you, you were driving too fast in a place where it is possible for a deer to run in front of you.  Meteor falls on the road in front of you, you were too fast for conditions.

I'm all for protecting the workers.  Although if they are going to be this strict I'd like to see that applied consistently.

Those curbs can be very slippery when wet.

It's not an Ohio law, it's an SCCA rule.

Man that sucked!

They had a car off in the gravel trap for four laps covered with a standing yellow flag while they tried to extract the car.

I had been driving a very conservative rain line running the outside as the normal inside line was slippery like ice and as such I was dealing with the track conditions just fine.

As they safety truck got near the edge of the track they upgraded to a waving yellow.  The workers also motioned for us to stay to the inside.

I obliged and moved over but cut it too close to the inside rumble strips.  That upset the car and combined with the slippery line, the car instantly snapped around.

That's all she wrote.  I'm kicking myself for letting the car get away from me, especially since by then I had almost a minute lead and was in cruise mode.

Half a foot more on the inside and I would have been fine.

Oh well, lesson learned.  Besides the DQ I also got a 3-race probation.

Time to put it behind me and try to bounce back with a good result at the June Sprints.

At least we got to keep Saturday's win in the sprint race.  I had a great run with a Fiat who normally gets around that track like an HO slot car so I was happy to stay with him and take advantage of a mid-race sprinkle.  I have that vide posted up on Youtube.  The Fiat also posted his in-car and it was cool watching both videos at the same time.
