started out her car was okish, then it got to be bad fast. the 2nd engine is almost dead, headlights have issues, tirods are done, shocks (what shocks) there beond gone. the car is a death trap. so she was out looking for cars. so we looked online. an got a list of cars local form 84-91 sedans an hatchs crxs an a wago. narrowd the list down more to what really is a good deal an got the list from 25 down to 13. then looked again an still 2 were looking good both were under 600 bucks too! so called the one an left message the other i dint like the message macshine so i dint leave one. got a call back about 2 hours later on the one car. set up time to go see it the next day. well asking was 500 we got it for 450. its a 87 1500S with get this. MIN rust. only rust i found so far is a bit on the rear fenders. thats it. its solid. BUT down side is:
-broken front window
-sunroof is lose
-blinkers have a issue
-high idle
-hatch wont open
-headlights are tempermental
-key only works drivers side an ignition
-carpet missing
-dash is a bit beat up
-speedo not working./no counters an tack is bounching

else wise its in great shape just needs cleaning up an some tlc on some cosmetic parts.
its in a lot better shape body wise then i have seen in a while.

thats not bad, sound like easy fixes, nice find. as long as the thing runs decently, everything else should be easy. smile.gif

ok took pics but need to find cable for camera hookup.

today we got a good start on the car:
-little muddy from getitng in the back yard

-ducktaped the top of the car around sun roof so no more rain an snow gets inside the car

-took out rear seats an belts
-rear panels are out
-brakets for a trunk cover off
-figured out the trunk lacth issue, the cable is broken also found lots of glass looks like the hatch glass is new.

-found about a buck in change so far.
-found a shirt filled with new brake pads an calipers
-so far in the inside of the car the only rust found is a aobut a dime in size spot that is just jsut starting to peal the metel under were the seats are. other then that its still stock black paint inside an in desent shape.
-pulled the door panels as well, found that there are some desent pionner odd shaped spekers in the door an its got a alpine nice deck. the deck an spekers alone are problay the amount we payed for the car.
tomorrow i was hoping to get out an replace the lock in the car since only one that works is the drivers door an ingition.
BUT were in a snow storm agian tonight i dint know it was coming. ugg. this is not normal for us out here to have so much snow. im begining to think i live in ontario. not british coloumbia.

well update again went to transfer papers. well big problem the papers were wrong his name an vin# were wrong.
so had to spend some time hunting down the owner before the one we got it form. truned out the guy was unlisted. so had to drive to the address. 40 mins away got lost found the guy finally go tit signed foundout more info on the car then went home.

progress on the car:
i replace the doors an rear hatch locks with a set i had so now the locks all work with one key an the ignition will be seperete o well, shes use to it she has a crysler right now.
then i worked on the tail lights i clued in that the tail lights are the dx style not the 1500S an im out of that style all well so i swaped out the center to my custom one that hooks to the brake lights. it all leds in teh civic word its cool.

other then that waiting for daylight to finish the doors an interior striping so we can clean the dirt an glass out an then custom do a carpet for it.

ok well lots done today there were at a time 4 people working on the car.

took the rear hatch apart to get the cable off its broken
took rear tires off to inspect the rear brakes an ebrake cables
tightend up the ebrake cables
moped up the water an vaclumed the car out.
took the dash out an put in a new wire harnness the other owner made a mess of the one inside
finished fixing the ingnition to coulm part
cleaned an reinstalled the door panels an asserries
i did some rust preventing an did all the seals inside so the help the still good seals. DID I MENTION NO RUST IN SIDE
looked more at sunroof issue turns out its the clips that the sunroof clips in to that are broken not the seals.

found a wire nightmare the corner lights were splisted WRONG to the bumper lights.
took out the headlights an put new clearer glassed one in.
re in stalled frontend
cleaned up the engine bay took out the old alram system, foudn nother issues. the 55A fuse has been swaped wiht a wire. hum....

will post pcs later

well update i tried on tusday to get the car on the road a nightmare that was an in short it faild aircare so i have 3 months to et it fix an in before the incerance runs out. fine i do soem more work on it. swaping parts from my drag car.

taillights from dx style to si style
rear side glass so i had my rpr stickers
driver an pass seats
repalced all the brunt out bulbs in the dash an cluster belive i counted 10 burnt out
replaced my turn/wiper sterring control unit
still fighting gettign the steering wheel straight
installd my new batt an stock batt holder
my next fun was the engine
i thought i would do a compression test on it since it dost sound right running. so i get my stuff an go to work. right off the back problem, number1 ownt let the shocket go on i get a flashlight an look an there is the rubber part of a shocket around the plug. so i get my neddle nose an get it off an get back to work. #2 was ok but was lose, #3 ok but again lose, # 4 not good was coved in oil an was lose. the test came out at 1-2-3-4 150-150-150-160

HOW can a oil coated cylinder have more compresstion then the rest.

so i out the new plugs in an fired up the car, instanly i notesed a diff. the car has life an power now. so it looks as if #1 wasnt always fireing. an now that the plugs are screwed in at the right tightness that helps too. i still have a odd noise in the exhust like a ticking might be a valve out a bit.

still needs some work but its gettign there.
