keith, what all needs to be done to make this AWD crx complete? did you use the early 4WD or later real time AWD setup? how much $ might we be talking to pick this thing up?... my gears are turning and i have a plan.... kinda

Some assembly up front is still required, but not that much. Driveshaft would still need to be shortended. CRX trailing arms would have to be adapted to the 4WD rear axle. Panhard rod fabrication also needed. I expect the stock gas tank would need to be removed to make room for the driveshaft (unless you made this a high-rider).

Cable shifter still needs to be installed. D16A1 should be in good shape. Tranny is from an '86.5 or an '87. It has the little lever, used for towing it.

I have 2 center driveshaft sets, one with the viscous coupler, and I have an extra rear axle. I have all 4 mudflaps (the rears have 4WD molded in).

Since SWMBOed wants more cars cleaned out of the garage, I would let it go for $1000.

Chris, I plan to keep the yellow racecar, and at least one of my two Baltic Blue '85 Sis.

well after driving a electronic advance D16A1/ZC powered AWD wagon today i am very tempted to build/buy a D16A1 AWD crx. dont get me wrong, smoking off a set of tires is fun and all but the feeling of traction is actually nice after driving my B18B1 crx so much

keith, it would have been nice to have had that solid driveshaft on there today since half way through my test drive my front passenger side axle popped out of the trans which means i only had rear wheel drive for the nearly 1 mile ride back home. surprisingly it did just fine with just rear wheel drive but that viscus coupler isnt direct drive so it felt like a slipping clutch but it still did the trick. now im convinced that simply removing the front axle shaft's and putting a solid driveshaft in place for the rear would work quite well for a RWD civic... if you ever *needed* one

Time to bump this thread again.

I still have the incomplete 4WD CRX project, if anyone is interested.

I expect to have an engine-less '87 CRX Si available before long, with some interesting B16 conversion bits.

I am probably ready to sell the '62 Triumph TR3B racecar. I need to scan some old photos, but this is what I find right now.

Keith, who sold both '86 Sis and the Wagovan...

This thread needs to be bumped again, after 2 more years.

Both my Baltic Blue '85 Sis went up to New York (one of which was partially converted to 4WD).

I would probably sell the Acura SLX now, since I am not using it.  I am keeping the '85 race car.

Time to sell the '87 CRX that somebody else tried to make into a drag car with a B16.  $1800

Would also sell the complete browntop conversion I bought, removed from a running race car.  $400

Keith

I am down to just one CRX by now (the yellow race car), but still too many parts.

I have actually started advertising the 3 Triumphs (one of which is a race car) and the Austin-Healey.

It is definitely time to sell the '96 Acura SLX tow vehicle.  Make me an offer.

I want to be ready to snow-bird to-from Florida when we decide that winters in Virginia are too cold for these old bones...
