hey guys! Im new here. Jus bought an '87 civic si. Still trying to get use to this site.its pretty cool. Ok so i want to put a short shifter on my civic and have no idea what or where to get them. And I want to lower my car but have no idea what springs or struts to use or where to find them. Don't know much about 3g civics and It's pretty hard to find aftermarket parts for them or am I jus a dumbass and doing my searches wrong lol! I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

As far as short shifters you basically have three options. First, you can try to find a DC sports short shifter specifically made for 84-87 crx/civics but they have been long discontinued and are very hard to find. Second, you can buy a custom made short shifter from chedda_j, he is a member here on the broad. Third, you can modify an 88-91 crx short shifter by either shaving the ball on the shifter down to fit, or swap out the ball retainer from an 88-91 crx into your car.
For springs and struts/shocks the only readily available are Tokico blues. They are an upgrade over stock. As for springs you can buy Ground Control coilovers for the rear. The front of our cars do not have springs, they have what are call torsion bars. So technically you can lower the front of the car by turning a nut underneath the car for about an inch in lowering height. Or you can take the torsion bars out and respline them to go lower, but usually this will call for bigger torsion bars since you will bottom out on the stock bars. You can find upgrade torsion bars at upgrademotoring.com
Or if you have the money (a little over a grand) you can get a tein suspension kit from Mr. D a member here or thought his website heeltoeautomotive.com
There are various manufactures of aftermarket performance products i.e. shocks/struts, springs, headers, etc but most have been discontinued and are somewhat hard to find. The ones I listed you can still buy new and find easily.
It's all a waiting game for stuff to come up for sale, so no you are not doing anything wrong with your searches it's just the fact that no one no longer produces stuff for these cars is the reason why you are not having any luck finding anything.

So as far as lowering the car, how low can i go? is 1 1/2" or mayb 2" too low?
do i need to buy camber kits as well for the alignment? if so where can i find them?
Are those tein suspension kits for the front and the rear? or just the rear? What do u guys think is the best option/choice for lowering the car? tein suspension kit or ground control/torsion bars?

Two inch drop would do okay on tokico's w/ ground contols with stock t-bars, but if you hit a big enough bump or hit a large pothole it will still bottom out occasionally, upgraded t-bars will help.
The tein setup if definitely better but it is just the matter of having the extra cash to spend. It is a complete set and will cover both front and rear, but does not include upgraded torsion bars however you can get them from Marcus (Mr. D) at heeltoeautomotive.com
Camber plates are not really a necessity but they are available through Marcus too if you want to buy them.

so if i go with the tein set up all ill need are upgraded torsion bars and camber plates for the allignment? thats it?
i was on heeltoeauto and looking at the option for the tein suspension, it was asking for spring rate..do i choose 4kg for rough roads and street sports...? and do i need revalving service?
for the torsion bars its also asking for the app? I guess i choose 24mm for sport...?
and there was an option for a Panhard Bar..do i need those as well?
and should i add the hardware kit with the camber plates?

I'm surprised nobody has asked a very important question: What is your intended us for the car once it is lowered? Just looks? Sporty driving? Some sort of racing? The answer will influence which way you should go.

In some cases, it helps to ask for CRX parts rather than Civic parts. Mechanically, they are the same, and I have heard of some sellers who only list things as CRX parts.
