Itinerary

We will caravan out Saturday morning 8 am from Raleigh. If there is enough interest from Charlotte area people, we will get another caravan from there & get people riding together, driving, following, etc. For those coming from the coast, out of state, or any other areas, PM me if you wish to caravan with us & we can arrange something.

Raleigh Caravan

Taking 40 allll the way to Asheville. Leaving Exit 273 from behind the Hardees. Heading out @ 8 am. Meeting up @ 745 am. There is gas here... but if you have 1/2 tank, this should get you to the next stop.

Next stop... Greensboro/Winston-Salem Exit 203, Head North. There is a gas station on the left hand side... plenty of parking & this is the fill up point for gas. Meeting up w/ the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/Kernersville people here.

Leave time from exit 203 is 940ish am.

Next stop... Blueridge Motorsports in Hickory. Exit 125, Head left at the light at the end of the ramp. Take a right on Hwy 70 & Blueridge Motorsports is down on the left across from the Honda dealership.

Leaving Blueridge about 1145ish am.

Heading down I40 West, the next exit on our trip will be I26 South in Asheville. This is a left exit off I40. After we have merged onto I26 South, we will get our caravan into the right lane. The 1st exit we come to, 33, we will get off of. When we circle around to the top, we will be making a left onto Brevard Rd.

Asheville Meet

Time is about 130 pm @ this point. The caravan will continue to the 2nd light & make a left into Ridgefield Shopping center. There is a Big K-Mart here on the right. We will have our meet in the very back of this parking lot. Lots of space & everything is ok for us to park there. The restaurant we will be eating @ is China Garden Buffet as pictured below. The pictures are of the restaurant & the rows of parking spaces we will be using.

Price of buffet is $10.95. Drinks are $2.35. Buffet includes: The Buffet table, one plate from the Mongolian BBQ, one plate of crab legs. If you want more Mongolian or crab legs, it will be $2 per plate thereafter. If you don't feel like Chinese, there are several fast food places on this road.

Before we take off, you can visit the Kmart in the same parking lot as the Chinese buffet & get a few things for dinner that night or the following morning if you wish to save some $. We will eat dinner at the Gap store restaurant Saturday night.

3 pm After we get all fooded up, pictured up, & bs'd for a bit, we will take a drive down Blue Ridge Parkway. The entrance is 1 mile South of the Chinese Restaurant. We will make a few stops @ the lookovers to get some nice shots & bs some more. We will leave the Parkway when we come to Hwy 276. When we come to I40 on 276, we will wave goodbye to the people who came for the Asheville meet.

Next stop: Deal's Gap! We will stop at the store for gas, apparel, & there is a restaurant there. We will be having dinner at the restaurant. We will drive up & down the Gap after dinner.

From there, we will check into Fontana Village & settle in for the night. The traditional UNO frenzy will happen unless someone brings another game such as scattergories, catch phrase, etc. that a lot of people can play.

** Fontana Village **

SUNDAY PLANS

Will be meeting in the Fontana Village dining hall for breakfast. Plan on spending about $12-$15. If you want cheaper, then get it @ Kmart in Asheville the night before. Sometimes they have buffet, sometimes they don't... it's hit & miss...

Breakfast meetup will be 730ish am.

We will be leaving for the Gap after breakfast is done.

We will ride up & down the Gap & see the Cop activity while enjoying the scenery. After a once over, we will head out over the Cherohala Skyway. We will catch a bite to eat in Tellico Plains & head out after. One more time down the Gap, then we will go our separate ways. Those who want to caravan back can discuss @ this point.

Rooms:

If we get 5 cabins, we can get a group discount. Currently, Pete has 1 cabin and I have 1.

- AARP
- AAA
- Military

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you act Special Ed, I will ask you to leave. I have zero problems w/ being a cack to someone who has no self control, lack of sense, or is driving uncontrollably. Fun, but safe!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to check on your car before going

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ask that you take this checklist & go over your car before you do this run w/ us. It is a good workout for your vehicle & we want you to be safe.

- Check tread on tires
- Check tire pressure
- Check or change oil
- Check water level & hoses in engine bay for condition
- Make sure all exterior plastics/metals are secure
- Check amount of brake pad left. Change pads if needed
- Check brake fluid
- If your brake fluid is dark or hasn't been changed in a while, change it
- Check your wheel bearings & tie rod ends for looseness

what is the average age of this group?
I honestly dont want to hang out with a huge group of teenagers and 20 somethings if theres not at least several older members.
No offense, its just at 35 I dont relate as well with the youngins.

That said ive never been to the gap, and im about 6 hours away so its not out of the realm of possibility.
Are cars other than Hondas welcome? Ive got a buddy with a Mini that might be interested in making the trip with me.

HEY! I'm a 20 something... dry.gif

tongue.gif lol I totally understand. Put it this way. The majority of my friends are all at least 8 years older than me. I don't get along well with those in my age group either. My generation is filled with quite a few idiots... ph34r.gif

The ages of the people I know personally that will be attending are as follows:

25,22, 35, 22, 40, 23, 24, 40, 53, 43, 31, 25, 23, 35

This group, I can honestly say I am proud to be associated with.

The Gap draws literally thousands of Minis biggrin.gif

Yes! other cars are also welcome.
Although, we hope for lots of Hondas. rolleyes.gif

Hey Guys,
I've gotten all of your PM's tand text messages regarding this. Thanks for making me aware!

I'm still working on the details of this. Sounds like it is about a 4.5 hour trip from where I'm at to Fontana Village. I could not come up on Saturday, as I directing the marching band all day. But, if I got up really early on Sunday, I could make it up for the dining hall breakfast (or just after), and could then catch the Gap run everyone, then head home later.

We'll see...

Who all is coming out at this point? Anyone gotten up with Kaymo yet?

No peppers have confirmed that they are going at this point...
I also posted this on HondaCivicWagon.com... w/ only one response.
I am a bit surprised by this really...

CarolinaHondas.com rather, will be responsible for gathering the majority of the Honda drivers during this event.
12-15 cars or so, as of now....

then my group is another 8-10 cars.
(which is kind of a mix of family and friends)

Well I got a new job, and I start on Tuesday. Like I said, I have a wedding on the day before the dragon run, so if I can just snag the whole weekend off I'll DEFINATELY be there. That all depends on my new job though. I'll have to get back and let everyone know.

Got home safe Sunday night. The drive was amazing, the car was amazing, and the guys there were amazing. We really had a good time. Between jweber89 and I we made 6 runs on the mountain and some extra driving around the surrounding areas. I'll post up some action shots later. We reeeally got some killer stuff!

Shout out to the MP Tein kit again... My old Si was incredible!

Thats whats up! I had a blast too, brought both my 2G's. Pulled codes all weekend in one.
GoPro- technical difficulties. and my Still Camera took a crap.
So I got minimal footage and multimedia in general. dry.gif

Glad to see another Pepper show up, and with such an exemplary car setup too..
Good driving Cam. Sooo much fun!! Already planning for next year for sure.. hahaha
